We really enjoyed our lunch!!! The owner was very nice and so was the server we had! My absolute favorites were the cabbage and the sweet heat wings with the blue cheese which was on point!!! That sauce from the sweet heat wings was too delicious to leave on the platter so I put it on my fish and OMG !!!! We really enjoyed it! I also tried the peach lemonade and that was tasty too! Will definitely be back!

RUN…don’t walk to experience their food! Everything was amazing.I never even knew I wanted chicken and dressing for brunch until I had it here today. Make sure you get the side of cranberry sauce that comes with it if you get it. We had macaroni and cheese that was delicious, we had yams, greens, and the wings, and shrimp and grits. I am so full and can’t wait to come back! Also, Destiny made some mean drinks! My sister had the soultini and I had the sweet tea something with bourbon. They packed a punch! All the staff was super friendly.

Great addition to a struggling area of Memphis! The service and atmosphere takes you to a wonderful place away from the outside area. 90% of my meal was some of the best in Memphis, BUT the chicken on my chicken and Waffles was un-seasoned..I let the waitress know and she immediately told the chef on duty. When I return I will update my review. Cause we going back…lol

The food was Excellent, the restaurant airy and light and did I mention the food was Excellent. I was getting my order to go but it looked so good I decided to have a “little” taste and ended up eating half my “carry out” there! Highly recommend for some great, rightly seasoned soul food!

Stopped here for dinner and the food and service was good. I had the catfish with fries and it was good. My friend had the wings which looked even better. Next time I’m there I will have the wings. It is a nice restaurant with a nice bar area and I will be back.

Neighborhood Gem just down the street from the Stax Museum of American Soul Music &
across the street from the Fire Station. The owner recently had the stage & patio built which opened yesterday and the sound stage is just as good as the Railgarten which is phenomenal. I noticed the patio can easily accommodate small paties of 300 patrons comfortably including musicians. He’s working on expanding parking right now theirs parking spots for maybe 35 vehicles
It’s the perfect spot for the public to hang out or to have private parties.
Forgot to ask Derek about that so that’s something that you would have to inquire about other than that it is definitely is a neighborhood Gem and the prices are reasonable.
I’ll definitely be coming back

Genna was fantastic. She was fast attentive and genuinely welcoming. She shared that they have been open for less than a year which made the experience even more impressive.
My family and I ordered the catfish greens and fries and we were not disappointed. The portions were generous the oil was clearly fresh and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Hats off to the chef because everything tasted intentional and well executed.
We will definitely be back the next time we fly in from Vegas. Wishing this restaurant continued success.

If you come to Memphis and do not eat at Johnnie Mae’s Soul Cafe what did you come for?!??? The food is AMAZING!!! Just trust me and go. They have a bar too!!! I haven’t have food this good in forever. Destiny works the bar and Nikki is on the door….. the customer service is bar none!!!! Listen, I would’ve taken pictures of the food, but I ate it too quick so…….( my sister sent me the one she had) I
