I had high hopes. They were dashed. I’ll start with the atmosphere though since that was pretty good. It was clean, nicely kept. The service was kinda lacking. I was done eating and never got a refill on my drink until I asked for it. I get they were busy, but she never really came to check on us. Took awhile to get our food. The brisket was the best part of the meal for both of us, pretty flavorful and juicy. The fried okra was good. And the chicken was ok. The rest, not so much. The shredded pork, which was supposed to be their specialty, was not good. It was more like it was chopped up into tiny pieces. It was dry and tasteless and chewy, like it never got up to the 200° Mark, and then they try to hide it by chopping it finely. The ribs had a weird chemical type taste to it. Like they used some type of fire starter. I could barely eat one. My husband said the same thing. Not tender at all either.

Good spot for some BBQ. Not mind blowing but they put some love into the food. Nice and smokey no matter what you get. The coleslaw was fantastic. Brisket was a bit more tough and less juicy than I like it but it was still nice.
Not the best BBQ you’ll have but it is good none the less
The hot sauces were a nice touch. If you are a real hot sauce connisour, the hottest ones arent too bad but they are too spicy for me non-spicy loving friends

I was disappointed that they had sold out of chicken but tried the turkey for the first time and it was very good with a smokey flavor. My husband usually gets the ribs and loves them. The waitress checked with us several times to see if we needed anything. Took home bottle of the sissy sweet sauce–delicious.

Hands Down the Absolute Worst BBQ ive ever had and that says alot as I travel the country for work and hit every BBQ joint I can. Ordered a combo plate and was upcharged for the 1 slice of Grey dry brisket, the ribs I couldn’t even chew the meat off the bone. The only “edible” thing was the canned green beans I got, even the white bread was stale.
As soon as I saw how bad the guy behind the counter was tweaking, I should had walked out right then….

So gross, utter waste of money. The worst was the chicken. Tasted injected with water with a strong gross smoke flavour. I’ve had barbecue chicken before, this was gross. Kids mac and cheese was like horribly cooked Kraft Dinner, super dry. I felt bad for my kiddos, we all left pretty hungry. Brisket was lukewarm. Basically echoing a lot of reviews here. I have no idea how this place has so many stars and if they were good once upon a time but yikes.

Nice place for a simple meal of real smoked meats. The wings were big and meaty the salad fresh and simple and a generous portion of meat and maybe more potatoes than necessary. The sauces on the side are unique and tasty enough but not particularly notable. The service was mostly attentive and the prices are fair.

My family and myself were in town for an appointment at Mayo clinic and in the mood for bbq. The brisket was lukewarm and with barely any flavor. The ham and shredded pork was cold. I had some JoJo’s as well which were overcooked and hard the baked beans were still hard. The only thing I liked was the bread they give you. This was a very disappointing bbq place

John Hardy’s never disappoints. Went there for lunch with my co-workers and service was fast. I always get the pork plate with jojos and fried ocra. Best pulled pork in Rochester.

We were in town for appointments at Mayo Clinic and wanted Bbq. What a disappointment this was. The brisket was cold, no seasoning. The Bar B Cuban sandwich was absolutely disgusting, meat cold, bun was soggy. The baked beans were not fully cooked, cold and hard. The mild bbq sauce tasted like French dressing. Not worth the 60.00 we paid.

The service was okay. The food was not. “Jojos” are basically lightly fried potatoes chips and they were cold, soggy, and bland. I literally ate one and couldn’t touch any more. I ordered the half rack of ribs and it came out room temp at best. I asked for it to be heated up and it looks like they just tossed the whole plate (ribs and soggy chips) in a microwave. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich and fries. She said it was okay but the fries are your basic, frozen, crinkle cut fries, again with no salt or seasoning. The coleslaw was good and the sauces are decent. Definitely won’t be going back though, Famous Dave’s is better by far for bbq in town.
