BROOOOOOO Just had Johnny Gs again and DAANNNNGGGG. I cannot tell you enough. This pizza just took another pizzeria for top spot!!!
I am a TRUE New Yorka and man I was beyond excited to try this. And had it again and it just gets better. This is by far the best pizza in St. George. Unbelievable you can fold a slice just like NYC. The “sawce” is tangy and sweet. The slices are perfect ratio of cheese to sawce. The pepperoni deliciousness and the way it should be. They sprinkle it with a little oregano before they close the box I felt like I was home again. John Gs not going anywhere else.

Best Detroit style pizza we’ve had in Utah! And being from Michigan..we’ve searched. Ordered The Palermo, awesome fresh tomato flavor, good chick’s of Italian sausage, and lots of mozz cheese!

They were super busy on a Friday night (lots of take out and Doordash), so we had a long wait for food, but they brought us a complimentary piece of baklava (also good!) with our order. Nice Ceasar salad delivered in a cold bowl, plenty for 2 people. The inside is just a few tables and booths, couple outside picnic tables. The traditional pizzas looked good as well. We will be back!

*I do wish the local fast casual places in St. George would up their plastic ware and plates though. Hard to eat or cut into with flimsy forks and the cheapest paper plates. ‍♀️

I heard a lot of hype around John G’s so I may have went in with too high of expectations.

Full disclaimer, I am not familiar with Detroit or New York style pizza so my review is subjective to my preferences in a pizza.

The positives? I appreciate how all of the specials cost the same amount and they’re loaded with toppings.

The letdown? The ingredients didn’t taste as fresh as we hoped. Those pies looked gorgeous, but they somehow tasted kinda bland.

Call ahead if you can. There was no wait when we arrived, but it still took 25+ minutes for two pizzas. I understand that quality food takes time, but for how long we waited, I expected a little more.

Both pizzas also tasted oddly sweet and were soaked in what smelled like garlic oil? This may be intentional, but it was too extra for me.

Oh and the white sauce pizza was a little dry so we asked for a side of tomato sauce. They handed me a tiny 2 oz container (which really tasted no different than a store bought can of pizza sauce) and charged me $1. Say what you want about inflation, but that is borderline robbery. Removing a star for that alone.

At the end of the day, I appreciate the variety that John G’s Pizzeria is bringing to St. George, but they can do better.

First time and last time. I walked into ol Johnny’s G’s and placed an order to go as I hear great things about this place. Never again will I order or consume this pizza. I place an order to go, I pay, I don’t leave a tip because I’m taking it to go. Yeah don’t do that, I ended up at the back of the line, waited over an hour for my pie. 3 or 4 others that were behind me got their stuff before I did. They finally made it, I took it with me, I hit Jack in the box on the way home, when I got home this pizza went right in the trash. I’d rather do the pizza at Maverick than this place.

Discovered this cute little place based on Google reviews and was not disappointed! Only open 2 months, the inside is small (a few tables and booths inside, and a few tables outside), but nice and simply decorated. The staff was super friendly, and the food, can we talk about the food??? Beautiful presentation (you eat with your eyes first!), and then the taste was amazing as well. The Caesar salad had a very creamy dressing and you could taste the anchovy and garlic, but the best thing was that it was chopped nicely so it was easy to eat (no big pieces), and both dark and lighter Romaine, so not bland looking. It was finished with fresh herbs and cheese around the rim of the bowl, perfect for 2 people to share. Next, the Palermo pizza. Nice browned bubbled crust edges, crispy with just a little softness near the small end of each wedge, and the ingredients were evenly placed and spaced, showing care in the process and a bite of everything in each slice. Palermo Pizza: Topped with pepperoni, sausage, roasted garlic, tomatoes, artichokes, and mozzarella. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, St. George needs better eateries like this one, fantastico!

I just want to give them a huge shoutout! My family and I came in to try their food for the first time this evening, and it exceeded our expectations and then some. We got a 18 inch pizza with 14 wings and a big thing of cheesy breadsticks, 2 drinks for 50$ – not bad pricing at all considering how big everything is! All of the food was fresh and the staff got it out to us fast. We really enjoyed our first experience here and if anyone is looking for a good pizza place then please give them a try you won’t be disappointed. We will definitely be coming here from now on.

*Opening week review*

This is such an exciting addition to this part of town! We ordered the ocean view and the meatso (minus the sausage) pizzas with a Caesar salad.

The crust is EXCELLENT. Chewy, so flavorful. They do it right. The ocean view was unique, I’ve never had anything like it. All the flavors blended perfectly- i wasn’t sure if I would like the apricots but I loved them!! I didn’t sample the meatso but the simple caesar salad with what must be homemade dressing was a perfect side. The dressing was the best I’ve ever had.

I think they nailed the ambiance inside and there’s tables and chairs outside with umbrellas. Inside, the tables and chairs are heavy and good quality (something I’ve come to appreciate!).

They only opened a couple days ago so they are still training staff obviously and smoothing out wrinkles. There was about a 30 minute wait for pizza after we ordered (however it was pretty busy when we arrived), so be patient. Not sure how their call ahead system is yet but we’d probably try that next time.

Also I didn’t realize that our ocean view was missing the prosciutto until it was all gone and I was writing this review But it was SO good I didn’t even miss it. I look forward to going back and ordering it again to try it with! The Ocean View would be a great vegetarian option if you leave off the prosciutto.

Overall I’m glad I could come during their first days open. I’m so impressed! I’ve been to quite a few restaurants in their opening week and there’s often so many mistakes that it distracts from the food. But the flavors here absolutely outshined the hiccups. It’s a must try! I look forward to when they get in their groove, we will be regulars.

Update: came back and ordered the tutta and chicken bacon ranch pizzas along with the garlic knots and another Caesar salad. Pizza was delicious (the tutta feels like an extra pretty supreme), the garlic knots tasted like fried garlic donut bites and we loved them. And I can still confirm that the Caesar salad is hands down my favorite. That dressing is amazing!!! I will definitely come and order just that with chicken added

If you are an East coast transplant yearning for a good pie, this is a good place to go. Its this little hole in the wall off Valley view in the same strip as the Sinclair. Awesome food, very kind service staff… you cant beat it. Excellent bang for your buck, too! My wife and I go here for a date night, or as a reward for making it another day. Find your joy where you can, folks.

Tried out John G’s Pizzeria for the first time and went with a pepperoni and pineapple pizza to keep it simple. It did not disappoint! Definitely planning on trying their BBQ chicken pizza next time. We also grabbed some chicken tenders which were crispy on the outside, juicy and perfectly cooked on the inside. For dessert, we had the pistachio gelato, which was delicious and has us curious about the rest of their dessert menu. Overall, a great first visit and excited to come back.

It was definitely good pizza, just not great. I did really enjoy the crust which is why I may have enjoyed the breadsticks more than the pizza. Online order wait was estimated to be 90 minutes. No text or email or call to tell you when it’s ready, I just got there at 90 minutes and it was done. They didn’t seem busy at all and the pizza was getting colder so I imagine it had been done for a while, a simple text or something would be awesome! It was worth a try.
