I’ve been here before a while back and got the Mongolian beef. I have to admit it was very tasteless just didn’t have that rich flavor I’m used to. But I didn’t do a review back then because I didn’t feel I was around long enough to check the place out. Went back yesterday. Service was incredible mainly because April was working. Really nice local crowd and you can feel that they like their watering hole and there’s a lot of camaraderie. I ordered two things the first was the miso soup a very good size portion with lots of flavor. Then I ordered the cheeseburger. And this is where I have some issues. I love the combination of flavors when I bite into a sandwich anything that I have on it I want to taste it all at once. The issue I had it was a very large Burger perfectly cooked. But I think they were more about the presentation and the show me wow wow than constructing the perfect burger. When I bite into a burger I want to taste the lettuce the tomato the onion whatever condiments I have at the same time. Unfortunately I was unable to do this because if I stacked everything on the burger based on how thick the burger was I’ve have to bite I into an 8 inch sandwhich. As you can see from the pictures it was all about how big everything was. Well sometimes you need to adjust how you construct a good sandwich and I just think that’s what they need to do because it was cooked perfect medium rare. Flatten the burger out a little bit. Put my lettuce and onion and tomato on it. And just use a little bit smaller roll. The sandwich is only as good as the roll you put it on and you really have to watch that bread to meat ratio. I actually want my burger to be constructed when it’s on my plate. I do not want to be responsible for putting it together. I know that plating and presentation is important but I feel this is more about presentation than actual good concept and a comfortable intake. And yes I know I use the word constructed a lot in this review but that was the key problem. And I really love the idea that you have an option of fresh vegetables instead of fries. The only thing I can say about the vegetables they were very crispy and that’s the way I like but they lacked a little bit of salt and pepper . I will definitely be back. I will try some other things. Then we will see if the review goes up to a 5 at some point, stays at a 4 at some point, or goes down to a 3

Update 10/27/25 Dinner c wife and some in-laws. Had the scallop special. Delicious.
Update 7/27/25 Had dinner at Joey Chiu’s with my wife and one of my grandkids. Delicious. Had the opportunity to shake Joey’s hand. He’s looking great.
Update: Had dinner at Joey Chiu’s today, 3/31/24 with seven friends. Still the same excellent food and stellar service. They gave us a round table with a lazy Susan in the center.
Joey Chiu’s is an excellent Chinese restaurant. I love eating there. It has ample free parking. From the parking lot, you cross a bridge over a nicely landscaped stream to enter the restaurant. The decor is the American idea of oriental, and if you’re lucky, you can score a table next to the large window overlooking the stream.
Once you get seated, they give you fried noodles, Chinese mustard and apricot sauce. The noodles are the wide kind of noodles with little air holes. They are fresh and crisp.
The food is fresh and delicious. It tastes like American Chinese food is supposed to taste. I’ve found that Chinese food in other countries, including Canada, doesn’t taste the same as American Chinese food.
Personally, I could eat Chinese food all the time. They do it in China, after all. This evening, we had edamame, spring rolls, cauliflower shrimp fried “rice” and crispy beef. All were delicious.
Service was friendly and prompt. We had the opportunity to shake Joey Chuy’s hand. I highly recommend Joey Chuy’s Greenspring Inn.

Where We Bout to Eat At
This food was so good, I wanted to go back the next day!
Tucked away in Greenspring, Joey Chiu’s is the perfect spot for a quiet solo dinner or a cute date night.
Meals are served family style and the prices are so reasonable, you’ll want to order everything on the menu!
I will definitely be returning soon!

This was another great meal in another great restaurant. I had not been to this restaurant in about 5 years but the food is delicious and we had a nice lunch on New Year’s day. Surprisingly when we got there it was empty but it filled up after a while. Our service, however, was not fantastic. Our waiter was not terribly efficient and really didn’t come by very often to check on us or give us more water when our glasses were empty.
This is really the top Chinese restaurant in the area. However it is also a pricey Chinese restaurant. Though the quality of the food is outstanding and it is nice to come back and have some delicious Chinese food here.
I asked if they could make up egg drop wonton soup which is a mixture of both and they were able to do that even though it’s not a menu item. It was a huge bowl of soup and very flavorful and four wontons and bigger than most other Chinese restaurant individual soups. I also ordered a seafood bird’s nest which had shrimp, scallops, and squid. It had big huge shrimp and lots of seafood and considering it was a premium price it was well worth it because it was chocked full of seafood and lots of vegetables with a delicious sauce. I ended up bringing half of it home. Others that are table had hot and sour soup which like my egg drop wonton soup was a huge bowl with lots of meat and vegetables. All the other dishes at our table looked great and were very big and filling as most took a doggy bag home.
Service is the only reason that the review is a downgrade to four Star. On a day when we arrived and there was only one of their table eating we expected our service to be better and it was not. Other than that this is a top Chinese restaurant with delicious food and I highly recommend giving it a try.

Just got back from Joey’s from New Years Day Dinner. It was fantastic as always. I’ve got my carryout container in the fridge and the signature Joey’s brown bag they come in on the counter. I’ve been going here for years. They have a great wine selection, mixed drinks and Shirley temples for the whole family. Same variety of food as well that is almost identical to the same food cooked here 15 years ago. It’s amazing, consistent and the servers take long enough for your friends and family get into those interesting conversations before the alter gets around to you. The dessert menu is excellent and it’s always nice to see Joey and shake his hand. *Hat tip

Nice Americanized Chinese cuisine in a very accessible location. Service was abundant and attentive deposits also catering to a birthday party, a Ravens game crowd, and indoor+outdoor patrons. Water glass was topped off every time someone passed by. Food options were excellent and varied including lots for veggie and meat lover alike. Consistently good dishes. Oddly also served sushi, but we didn’t try any as that seemed like pandering to the ignorant.

My wife had the teriyaki chicken dish that lacked any flavor. I ordered the general tso’s dish that was decent. The Mai Tais were great. The shrimp toast was excellent.
