Had lunch with my dad here midweek. I had heard of this place since it was called Oklahoma Joe’s years ago, but never eaten here. Locales in your basic strip center. You order at one end of the counter and they put your meal together and pay at the other end of counter. I had heard there can been a long line most of the time, but not on this visit. I ordered the Z-man which is a brisket sandwich with provolone, and onion rings on a Kaiser bun with a side of potato salad. Dad got some ribs and fries so I got to try a few things. Z-Man was very tasty and a unique sandwich. The ribs my dad got were great as well. Fries also a hit and it was a huge order. They have a couple of sauces to choose from one is pretty standard and the other spicy. Both good additions if so desired. The one issue that made me give 4 star and not 5 was the potato salad. I love all types of potato salads and this one was one of the weaker ones I have had. Very one note and that not was very bland. Skip the potato salad is my suggestion. The Q potatoes as all very good and I would for sure not hesitate to come back.

Ate at KC Joe’s recently and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The meat was tender, smoky, and full of flavor, and the portions were generous. The line moved fast, the staff was efficient and friendly, and the whole place ran like a well-oiled machine. Whether it was the zman or the sides, everything tasted fresh and intentional. Hands down some of the best BBQ around, and always worth the stop. Hands down my favorite thing to eat was when they had their Hawaiian Zman

As a first-time visitor to Kansas City, I had to try the famous burnt ends at Joe’s — and wow, they were incredible!
The meat was smoky, juicy, and packed with flavor, with those perfect crispy edges that make burnt ends so special. The portion was generous, served with pickles and toast, and it paired perfectly with their BBQ sauce. I also had a side of slaw and a soda, and everything just hit the spot.
The atmosphere felt really authentic KC BBQ — casual, cozy, and full of character. Even sitting down with my tray, I felt like I was experiencing a true Kansas City tradition.
If you’re visiting KC, don’t miss the burnt ends here. Totally worth the trip, and one of the highlights of my food adventures in town!

I ordered meat by the pound for pick up. Brisket was $24.99/pound and sounded really good! I also ordered a half pound of ham and half pound of sausage. When I got home I was disappointed to see the brisket sliced paper thin. It is good for a sandwich but if you’re looking for an actual piece of brisket to pick up this may not be what you want. See photo.

The ribs were a little dry but good. Brisket was good but not happy about how thin the slices was … beans and potato salad was spot on and the banana pudding was very good. Wish I bought more

THE BEST BBQ IN KC & maybe anywhere for the record!! The Z-man sandwich is excellent as are the ribs and any other meat or platter you get here. Their sides are very tasty (Banana pudding being the bomb!) and the fries are so good! There always seem to be a long line to order but it moves quickly and is worth every minute you have to wait.

Was told about this place and had to go check it out. Helpful staff pointed us in the right direction on choices. Service was fast and whole order was ready to eat within 5 minutes! Brisket was juicy and tender. Always a plus in brisket. And baked beans were AMAZING. Great balance of sweet and heat. Thanks Joe’s!

I don’t know what I ate but that was not burnt ends. This location is part of a chain and the food tastes like fast food quality BBQ. The ribs weren’t worth eating. The fries were fresh. The restrooms and the restaurant itself were very clean. Everyone was polite and helpful. The food was unremarkable and the 2 barbecue sauce options were sweet enough to send you into sugar shock. Did I mention how nice and clean everything was?…That’s about it

So having grown up in Texas in the land of BBQ, I had always heard Kansas City and Memphis were hotbeds for the best BBQ (anywhere). So was excited to try some BBQ at Joe’s for the first visit to Kansas City. Let’s start off and say it was a great experience and the food (burnt ends) was good but not nearly as good as I’ve had before (and no, it wasn’t in Texas).
The burnt ends sandwich and seasoned fries were actually quite good, but the burnt ends weren’t quite “burnt” enough. Still had good flavor, but just missed the mark. Still would highly recommend as it may have just been the case this time. Next stone we’re in the area, we’ll make a point to try again.

Two Meat Dinner with Pulled Pork, Brisket, and Cole Slaw:
The Brisket and Pulled Pork did not stand out. I really liked the cold Cole Slaw. It was a salad-style slaw rather than creamy.
Ribs and Burnt End Dinner with Dirty Rice:
The Burnt Ends were amazing, fatty and tender. Although the order comes with three ribs, we received an extra one, likely because the third rib was half the size of the others. The two larger ribs were tender and flavorful. The two smaller ribs were dry and overly salty. The Dirty Rice was standard.
Overall, portion sizes are relatively small, but the three slices of bread that came with the order fill you up. The wait time was minimal. There is ample seating and lots of TVs everywhere.
