Joe’s Italian – Ladera Ranch

Joe’s Italian in Ladera Ranch has quickly become one of my new favorites, and that’s saying something, because I haven’t even had the chance to try the food yet. Their dirty vodka martini alone won me over. It’s easily one of the best I’ve had in South OC – perfectly chilled, perfectly balanced, and exactly what a good martini should be.

Friends keep telling me how incredible the food is, and the menu definitely backs that up. They have a great happy hour lineup, and I love that they offer gluten-free pasta options on the regular menu. It’s not always easy to find an authentic Italian spot that takes dietary needs seriously, and Joe’s seems to nail it.

The whole place has that warm, classic Italian vibe – cozy, inviting, and ideal for lingering with a drink or planning a date night or family dinner.

I can’t wait to go back and finally try the food, but judging by everything I’ve seen (and tasted), Joe’s Italian is already an easy recommendation.

My fiancé and I gave this place a try for our anniversary and the restaurant is nice, food is alright. Chicken could’ve been seasoned more on the Alfredo, but I was more disappointed with the service though. My water didn’t get refilled for 10 minutes and waitress was nowhere to be found. Other tables were getting far better service than us unfortunately. We wanted to celebrate with a dessert but lost the appetite with our server taking too long. Really hoping the next time is better if you’re seeing this Joe.

Had a great dinner at Joe’s in Ladera Ranch. The food was solid all the way through — we started with the calamari and bread, both were fresh and full of flavor. I had the chicken piccata and my wife got the lamb chops, and everything came out hot and perfectly cooked.

The place has a nice atmosphere — clean, comfortable, and well run. Service was quick and friendly without being over the top. You can tell the crew here takes pride in what they do.

Overall, great food, good portions, and a place I’ll definitely come back to. Highly recommend.

What a dump. I honestly feel like I should be refunded. I was visiting my cousin in Orange Co last week and we went to Joes for dinner on Friday. When the pizza came out we both were like “this pepperoni doesn’t smell quite right.” Not to mention there was a hair on the crust. We mentioned both to the waitress, who was apologetic, but said we would have to wait at least an hour for another pizza since they were busy. So we removed the hair and both ate a slice against our own better judgement. Big mistake. By the time we got back to my cousin’s condo, we were both sick and in dire need of the bathroom. This place uses rancid meat. What a horrible experience. Avoid at all costs!

Had a terrific lunch today at Joe’s in Ladera Ranch. Kristen, our server was professional, knowledgeable, and a beautiful person who provided stellar service. The ambiance was upbeat and positive, and the restaurant and bar were meticulous. We started with drinks, and the bread and olive oil which were so tasty. My wife ordered the Halibut with pasta and steamed veggies, and I had an antipasta salad with a side of one meatball and one sausage. Everything was tasty and served hot. We took two orders of meatballs and an order of Lina rolls home with us. We plan on coming back as the menu selection is vast and the pizzas look amazing. Thanks to Kristen and the other staff members who provided quality service and food!

Excellent restaurant. We had friends along and had a good sample of the dishes.

Lasagna, penne and meat sauce plus sausage, baked ravioli, and gnocchi.

All excellent.

5 layer chocolate cake shared 4 ways for dessert.

Outside seating was available, but we were seated inside by choice. Good spacing for the seating. We have covi d concerns.

The outside seating is permanent, not just pandemic.

We got here at open and when we left it was busy, great to see. Staff all attentive and great.

Highly recommended

The chicken had a chewy texture, and unfortunately, the sauce was overcooked. While the waiter tried their best and was friendly, they made a few mistakes that you wouldn’t expect from an upscale restaurant. The interior ambiance was okay, but sitting outside was a better experience, although still not exceptionally special. We enjoyed people-watching and browsing nearby shops.

I stay in Ladera Ranch for work during the week and discovered Joe’s as a place to have a glass of wine and hot meal at the end of a hectic work day. While the food is decent, the service was horrible tonight. I waited long stretches to order, then for a glass of wine, then for my meal. How long? 20 minutes between each. They sometimes bring warm bread and butter to the table while you wait but tonight I had to ask for it. My waitress was busy as I was finishing up and I finally had to flag down a busboy to get a to-go container and my check. I had hoped to like this place but poor service without acknowledgement or even a “thanks for your patience, it’s been a busy night” left a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure I’ll be back. .

So glad we got to try Joe’s for the first time. I took a look at the menu before we arrived. I thought it was going to be a fancier restaurant but surprised it was more of a casual setting. There were a few booths and mostly tables for big and small groups. Nice bar that spans the bigger half of the restaurant. There is also seating outside. We got there when it opened and were greeted and seated right away. We were pleasantly surprised to see a Happy Hour menu (3-6pm). We ordered the fried calamari, the famous Lina rolls and the meatball sliders. My friend ordered a pasta with sausage and said she thought it was the best pasta she ever had. The pasta was very Al Dente for me and was not tossed and cheese was not served. You need to ask if you want cheese. The Lina rolls were fabulous and served with meat sauce. The sliders are a big size portion. It can get pretty loud in there. There was a large party seated nearby and only us in a booth. Service was good, prices are on the higher side on the regular menu. Good option for a taste of Italian. We were there when it opened and parking was easy on a Saturday.

The restaurant was well staffed, staff was friendly and responsive. The food was amazing! Started with the Scungilli Fra Diavolo which was amazing and a must try appetizer. From there we had the Rigatoni Alla Gina which also was excellent. The Shrimp Fra Diavolo and the Chicken Marco Polo was also served. All in all it was a great dinner on the patio and the music was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.
