I’d been dreaming of coming here for years because of the history behind the building and figured the pizza would be a nice bonus. Turned out to be a highlight. You can’t ignore the cool neighborhood pizza place atmosphere, with the photos and the graffiti, that high ceiling and the huge open kitchen. But the pie rocked even harder.
I almost bought a whole small pizza and I’m glad I didn’t because I was surprised at how dense the individual slices are. Instead I started with two pepperoni and fresh mushroom slices and they were heavy! As in loaded with toppings. No skimping. The mushrooms were outstanding and I ended up just picking them off and eating them first. Well, I love mushrooms. That still left me with a gorgeous and generous layer of large, thin, slightly spicy pepperoni on top of some thick, gooey cheese and a hearty but not overpowering tomato sauce. Chewy crust with some bite. Even though I was already full I decided I had to eat one more. Best decision, although I’m stuffed.
Don’t know if I’ll ever be back in LA, would love to eat here again like regularly if I stuck. As it is I will continue dreaming of this pizza for the rest of my days!

Old world atmosphere at this pizza parlor. It’s been 20 years since last ordering a pizza. Quality is still as I remember it. Love the vibe at this location. The ceilings are about 18 feet high. Brought the pizza home and was still hot and delicious! It’s pricy at $32 for a 14″. But, it is worth it! I will not take another 20 years to come back.

I haven’t been here in years and man what a disappointment. I went at 5:10 pm to get three slices and I got this . The cheese was not even warm enough to drown in the pepperoni. The sausage was added on top like they sprinkled it . I see another review of them claiming, “it’s already premade” but that’s a cop out. You can literally add a little bit more cheese to at least make it look fresh . These slices look like a lunchable pack.

They do not bake the toppings with your pizza. They just pile it on top after the base pie has already been baked. This is a not NY pizza at all.

Pizza perfection! I’ve been a pizza lover my whole life, and this spot truly impressed me. We ordered a half-veggie, half-meat pizza and both sides were equally incredible. The veggies were fresh and still had a slight crunch, and the meats were seasoned beautifully. The dough tasted like it had been given time to rise properly – light, airy, and flavorful. It’s not just food here – it’s craftsmanship. The owners clearly take pride in their product.

Oh man I hate to write this. Joe peeps has gone way down hill with the quality of how they prepare their slices. I’m from NYC and when k moved here 8 years ago, this was my FAVORITE spot. I always went at least once a month. I moved away for a few years and just came back and ordered the slices. Yikes. this breaks my heart. The toppings are just placed on. They fell off all over the box. Took 25 min supposedly on the to go but they just sprinkled toppings unmelted onto a slice of cheese pizza. Darn it. Darn it Joe Peep say it ain’t so! Tell me I got a fluke of an order. Everyone is always nice inside though!

2022.04-26/TUE_1640: THE ONLY pizza I can eat. I’m highly allergic to tomatoes and I’m gluten intolerant but how is it that I can have Joe Peeps’ pizza???!!!
I love the staff here and the music is always the greatest, too! They’re always smiling and the ambiance is always the same when we visit! Today was great because I was able to order a pizza for take away and pick it up. So it was awesome to see the wonderful staff that makes the incredible food and who I’ve spoken to on the phone as well. We have to order delivery must of the time because if we leave the house, we won’t have parking! It was a treat to meet and see everyone in action!
Anyway, the food quality is insane here. I can’t say that enough. I have no allergic reactions to their pizza sauce and dough! This means the ingredients are of excellent quality. The amount of toppings on the pizza is always the perfect amount and the ingredients are always fresh! I usually buy a container of the pizza sauce so I can use it to cook something at home. That’s how much I love their sauce. I’m not allergic. What is it?! Homegrown tomatoes?
The Steak Sandwich….oh, dear heavenly Father… wow. I can honestly say that this is the ONLY place that has the closest thing on the menu that tastes just like a Philly Cheesesteak. Oh, what in the world is this??!! We had gotten a large Steak sandwich and added cheese. I couldn’t even take a bite, the sandwich was so huge. Not only was this a behemoth of a sandwich, the steak…the steak was not Steak Ums meat. It was thinly sliced, tender steak. What the heck. The cheese was stringy and melted perfectly throughout the sandwich and there were onions and green peppers just buried in there. The bread…SO soft and it was not thick and dense at all. The bread soaked up the drippings of the steak. How?! It WILL melt in your mouth!
You definitely will NOT be disappointed. If you want to dine in and have a slice, you can! They sell them by the slice! You don’t have to buy a whole pie!
The entrance is located behind the store in the parking lot. How great. They have their own parking! You have to see the interior because you’ll see celebrities that have visited as well as the shipping tickets for pizza that have been sent overnight to other states! I swear in 2011, I saw a shipping ticket for one that went to my hometown in Virginia Beach, Virginia!!! Now there are more! There’s Wisconsin, Illinois, and Ohio, too. I would do the same if I had to move away for a special treat!!
Joe Peeps is definitely a place worth visiting if you happen to be in town!

January/2022: I have been here countless of times and I cannot believe I’ve never done any reviews. Most of my reviews were done on Yelp! First things first – sadly, I’m highly allergic to tomatoes and for some reason, I am able to eat Joe Peeps’ pizza sauce and I can also have their baked Ziti, too. Anything with their sauce, I’m able to eat without any kind of allergic reaction. This tells me that they’re using quality ingredients and/or their tomato sauces are cooked for hours and it removes the protein in the tomatoes that I’m allergic to – who knows.
Anyway, each time we’ve ordered from Joe Peeps, the food quality had always been outstanding and plentiful. We love the two types of crusts available for there pizza. You have the “Blue Collar” which is more of a thinner New York style crust and the “5,969 Calorie” style pizza is a thicker crust. We’ve tried both and both are FANTASTIC. You can’t go wrong with whatever size pizza you get because where it’s either style, one slice is as big as your face! Their Baked Ziti is delicious as well as their sandwiches, too. Their portions are incredible.
The best part of Joe Peeps is that you can purchase their dough and their sauces so you can make your own dishes at home! I do this since I have a nasty tomato allergy.

The pizzas here are great! Came in for a few slices and the prices are really reasonable. Two toppings for only 450. My husbands been going here since he was a kid so it’s got a lot of nostalgia for him. You can write on the walls which is really fun, they have markers at the front.

Not sure the vibe they are going for. There’s a ton of writing all over the walls which is cool but it also brings down the enjoyment factor. Some of the chairs are falling apart and flaking off on the seat.
The pizza was good but it didn’t seem like the ingredients were fresh and the pizza was a bit too soft for my taste. It could have been cooked longer.
The chicken sandwich was great. It was big and satisfying. The bread was crispy on the outside but still really soft.

This was one the most unique pizzerias I’ve ever visited! My coworkers and I shared an 18″ pepperoni and sausage pizza (sausage wasn’t that great), and it was delicious! I also enjoyed a chicken Caesar salad that tasted like they made their own dressing in the back! It was also pretty large… I couldn’t even finish it! I’ll most definitely be returning!
