I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. It’s a really quaint little place with a lot of character and history. We were greeted upon entry by two super friendly workers. They talked to us a little bit about the restaurant and its history. We ordered from the specials board. The lady who took our orders was knowledgeable and helpful. She said the dish I was ordering was her favorite and I can see why! The young man who brought out our food was the grandson of Joe Lee from what I understand. The restaurant has been in business for over 40 years. If you are in the Kemah area and you love good food, seafood, and Cajun food give this place a try! You will not be disappointed!
Picture references- we ordered the cracklins, catfish with crawfish etouffe, and the shrimp 4 ways! Everything was top notch! The meals come with a pistolette, which is a Cajun style fried bread, Cajun rice (dirty rice) and I got green beans and my husband got the coleslaw that had tiny shrimp in it. He loved it!
Go eat at this restaurant!!!

We didn’t feel like cooking or dealing with leftovers, and this place hit the spot perfectly. The fish tacos were delicious, especially paired with the Cajun rice and those addictive hushpuppies. My spouse loved the fish sandwich, too—everything stayed fresh and crispy even for a “to-go” order!
They also have outdoor seating area that’s dog-friendly, which is such a plus. Highly recommend for a high-quality, stress-free meal!

Excellent service from the staff, especially the girl taking orders at the counter (Michelle I think?). Gumbo was hot, not just reheated lukewarm like at other places. Flavorful & filling. Clean restaurant as well.

If you’re looking for a seafood spot that hits all the right notes, Joe Lee’s Seafood Kitchen is the place to be! We stopped by for dinner on a recommendation from a friend. I immediately noted that there was a decent amount of cars and we arrived at the restaurant before 5 pm. On a Saturday. When we entered the restaurant, the customers looked like local families enjoying dinner and each others company. I stepped up to the counter and placed my dinner order for the shrimp platter and paid for my meal. The restaurant employee brought out our meals quickly. I found service here to be friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home.
The menu boasts a tempting variety of fried, blackened, boiled and grilled seafood, and I think I even spotted burgers for those who might want a change of pace.
I tried one of each of the shrimp on the plate. My dinner included fried, boiled, blackened, and stuffed shrimp. It came with a side of coleslaw, corn on the cob, crispy french fries, and a warm roll. Everything was served quickly and hot, with flavors that were spot on. If you’re a seafood lover, Joe Lee’s is definitely worth a visit!

One of the best fish sandwiches in the area. The fish is fresh, crispy and always so much bigger than the bun. Get extra tartar sauce there is a lot of fish! The onion rings were well done and tasty.

I haven’t been to Joe Lee’s since it was next to Landry’s on the water. As a kid we would take the boat to go eat there. Not usually a fan of walk up service. This place is amazing. Prices are right. Service was amazing. I went back to hit the tip jar for all around good food and service.

Had not been in a while and it did not disappoint. I got the fried catfish and fries and it was fried perfectly. Nice big filets. Tartar sauce was house made. My friend got the chicken club sandwich. She was happy with it and her fried okra.
