ZERO stars if i could. Placed an order online at 11:18. Said it would be ready at 11:28. Great! I get there late, at 11:40 (on my 30 minute lunch break) and they have no clue what i’m taking about. Show them the receipt on my phone and they have to make my food. Alright, annoying, but mistakes happen with new things. 15 minutes later, i get my food to scarf it down in a neighboring parking lot, and it’s truly disgusting. The chili cheese nachos were something…. Stale chips, shitty chili, and half of the lettuce was brown. I threw them out so fast I didn’t even snap a pic. The cheese curds were *7 dollars* and were cold in the middle. Every single one I ate. Now the absolute worst…. The chicken parm sandwich. The frozen chicken cutlets they used are full of gristle. Half of one of them was brown. It was also literally the soggiest thing i have eaten in my 20 years of life.. The kicker? It cost me $30. Nasty.

Jody’s Hot Dogs in Joliet is undeniably a neighborhood institution, and you can feel the decades of history in its retro, Chicago-style red hot diner atmosphere. They’ve got all the expected classics on the menu, from Italian beef and various hot dogs to burgers and steak sandwiches, which certainly draws you in.
I stopped by on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, hoping for a classic Chicago-style experience. I opted for the Italian sub sandwich. Unfortunately, while it was okay, it didn’t quite live up to the “great” I was anticipating, especially with a $14 price tag. My sister tried the smash burger and unfortunately felt similarly underwhelmed by her choice.
However, the absolute saving grace of our meal was the large order of hand-cut fries. The serving was incredibly generous – three of us shared one order and still couldn’t conquer the entire pile! More importantly, they were seasoned perfectly and cooked to a beautiful golden crisp. These fries were genuinely top-notch.
While our main courses didn’t quite hit the mark for us this time, Jody’s clearly has a loyal following for a reason. And if you’re a fan of fantastic, plentiful, hand-cut fries, those alone are worth a visit. We might have just caught an off day for the sandwiches, but those fries were memorable.

Jody’s in Joliet is a hidden gem for anyone who loves great food and generous portions! Their menu has a little bit of everything—hot dogs, fries, Philly cheesesteaks, sub sandwiches, cheeseburgers, and of course, their amazing gyros. My go-to order is the Gyros Plate, and let me tell you, it’s a feast! You get a huge portion of extra meat, crispy fries, and an extra pita bread, easily enough for two people to share. The flavors are always on point, and the quality is top-notch. If you’re in the area and craving delicious comfort food, Jody’s is the spot to go!

The restaurant is super cute and retro looking on inside. However the food was gross, my hot dog bun was so hard i could have broken a window with it. The hot dog was very dry as well. They serve pepsi products and has a 3.5% upcharge if you pay with a card instead of cash. I was extremely disappointed in my food. I wont be back for a really long time or until they get fresh hot dog buns in. You can tell in pictures how bad the bun was.

Cool place full of Route 66 and old movie star picture memorabilia. Counter service is quick and the pricing is very reasonable. They get the food out fast and hot. I’d never had a Chicago dog with cucumber but that’s how they make them here. Both the Chicago and chili dogs were good and I’m giving special mention to the hand cut fries.

If you are looking for a local establishment with fresh ingredients and fresh-cooked food, Jody”s will not disappoint. The staff and service are grest. Specialties are all beef hot dogs, hamburgers, and fresh cut French fries. However. they have a variety of choices on their menu.

Had the Italian beef and fries. Bun was dipped just right, not too dry, not too wet. A lot of beef on the sandwich, as you can see. Note, this is the SMALL fries. Food and service was good, as usual.

Good spot for a quick bite, they have something for everyone. I had the Big Beef and Spicy Garlic Fries. Both were really good and the Fries are fresh cut.
