Hello Patio Weather Season!? -ish…..
Apparently my husband has been waiting all year for the polenta to come back onto the menu. Combine that with a random cool brisk day in ATX and patio here we come.
We came for the polenta but got the benefits of trying out some Happy hour bites and bevies. Everything.was.on.point here.
Waiter is amazingly on it but not overbearing (iykyk). The polenta was better then remembered and worth the wait. We ordered one but had to order another because the whole table couldn’t get get enough of this goodness. The depth of flavor, the quality of ingredients just sells itself. This is a must try guys. Catch ot while it’s still in season.
Also another star of the show is their Tommy Marg. It’s hit or miss what a $5 marg might get you but let me tell you – the freshness of this marg I cannot stop dreaming about.
This is a place we could frequent for sure.

I absolutely loved this place on South Congress! I’ve been wanting to come here for quite some time, and I’m so happy my girlfriend and I finally got to enjoy a lovely brunch here for her birthday. I tried some Banana cocktail, which was surprisingly delicious, and our food was amazing. I had the tuna melt — the bread was perfectly toasted and sliced, and it came with a fresh side salad. My favorite part was definitely the salad dressing, which had this orange and ginger base that was absolutely delicious. The outdoor ambience was great too — it’s got this retro, cool, yet modern vibe that makes it such a fun spot to relax and enjoy a meal.

Out of all of the places that I visited in Austin for food, this might be my favorite. Had the bodega sandwich and everything about it was incredible. Flavorful, filling, awesome presentation. Loved the old school diner vibes and our waitress, Alondra, was amazing! Do yourself a favor and pay her a visit!

Had Kevin as our server, he was great. I ordered chilaquiles, portions kinda small, it was a small ramiken of beans . My brother got the chicken fried steak, now that was a real plate of food! I’d get the chips and queso every time. The atmosphere alone is worth going for!

Edit: A manager contacted me and told me they don’t charge for one syrup. It was a mistake on the server’s part. I told him it was still a really good pancake. I just would have brought a bottle of syrup with me on my next visit.
First time visitors. Very disappointed they charge 75 cents for syrup!
I ordered a blue corn pancake. It did not come with syrup. I asked our waitress for syrup. She never told us there was an additional charge. I’ve never been charged for syrup when ordering a pancake at any other restaurant.
The host was very kind and pleasant. They were very busy, yet everything was expeditious once we were seated. We opted to sit at the counter in lieu of the 20-30 minute wait. Our server was nice. She checked on us immediately after the food was brought out and we didn’t hear from her again until we were finished eating.
The hash browns were cooked perfectly crispy. So many places have hash browns that are crispy on the top and mushy in the middle but these were perfect! The pancake was delicious! I only wish I could have combined blueberry and banana instead of having to choose just one.

The happy hour at Joann’s Fine Foods is hard to beat! The food is delicious and the portions of the appetizers are plenty big for sharing. We got the hashbrown nachos and the shrimp aguachile (not included in the happy hour but definitely worth it), and both were spectacular! Joann’s is perfect for a happy hour or get together with the girls and I will definitely be back for brunch sometime soon!

I asked for one chorizo and egg taco and 1 barbacoa taco. My girl asked for one barbacoa taco and a sweet tea. I got a coke. Well I end up getting one taco with egg and chorizo but it wasn’t blended and it had a little barbacoa in it. So one taco with 3 items. My girl didn’t get her barbacoa taco, instead she got barbacoa with egg and cheese. We were like oh well give it a try. My girl ended up taking the cheese out, and the barbacoa was rough meat. She only took 2 bites. My taco was ok. So the egg and chorizo end up costing $12 plus $14 for the barbacoa. Our total price was about $57 for 2 tacos and 1 coke and 1 water down tea. I figured oh well at least we ate but never again.

David was our server and he was first class all the way. I had the beef enchilada, my girlfriend had the green chicken enchilada. He patiently explained what the green in the enchilada was to her. They were both completely delicious. We had a local lager beer, Meanwhile Darlin. Excellent beer! For dessert, David recommended a teadit Mexican pie that unfortunately, I don’t remember the name of. It’s a soft, creme, several creme, he said, plus a whipped topping, shredded coconut and sliced fruit i highly recommend all of it. 10/10.

This place has a retro vibe, and a menu to match. The tuna melt was delicious, but just too big. It would be good to share. The shrimp tacos were also good, but watch out for the jalapeño peppers! Super hot. Service was great.

I’m giddy with excitement that we’ve added yet another gem to our list of restaurants to frequent. We came on a Wednesday night the week before Christmas, and the restaurant was relatively empty. Our waiter was great in recommending appetizers and drinks. The guacamole and hash brown nachos were tasty. The margarita was pretty but I should’ve ordered two right away because the first one disappeared too quickly. The grilled red snapper tacos were good although one of them was over salted. My steak fajitas were flavorful, and the portions, generous. We will happily return to try the other menu items.
