When we arrived, the server asked us to take a seat, but the table and seating area were visibly dirty. We politely requested that it be cleaned so we could sit comfortably. Instead of addressing it right away, the server insisted that the stains were permanent. After we pointed out that it was actually food residue, she cleaned the area and we finally sat down.
After being seated, no one offered us water. I had to call the server and ask for it myself, especially after noticing that she was serving water to customers who had just arrived after us. When it was time to order, I politely asked her to suggest a dosa so I could try a new flavor. Her response was dismissive, saying that all dosas are the same and that I should take whatever I like. We eventually ordered a paneer dosa (street style), vada, and a couple of other items.
When the food arrived, it was served with sambar and peanut chutney. The food was very bland, with almost no taste, and the sambar was extremely watery. Also, it is important that customers be informed when peanut chutney is being served, as some people may have serious allergies. This is a basic safety concern that should not be overlooked.
After finishing the meal, I politely mentioned to the server that the sambar was bland. Her response was, “I poured the sambar from the top; I didn’t mix it,” which felt very unprofessional and dismissive. As a paying customer, I expect basic courtesy and a willingness to listen to feedback.
Additionally, I was uncomfortable with her overall behavior and attitude. Each time she came to our table, she stood with her hands in her pockets and leaned over us while speaking. This came across as disrespectful and unprofessional. I have visited your restaurant many times before and have never experienced such behavior from any staff member.
I strongly suggest that proper training be given on customer service etiquette and professionalism. One person’s poor service can affect the reputation of the entire restaurant and drive loyal customers away.
This visit felt like a complete waste of time, money, and mood. Unfortunately, after this experience, I do not plan to return, nor would I recommend the restaurant to others unless service and food quality improve.
I hope you take this feedback seriously and work on improving the overall customer experience.
“Name of the server is SHIKHA B” teach her some etiquettes and customer service.
I would like to talk to the manager or the owner of this place, if you want to discuss more about this.
Soft, cloud-like idlis. Crispy, golden uttapam. And that paneer tikka? Smoky, juicy, perfectly spiced with a killer green chutney on the side.
Clean flavors, bold taste, no nonsense.
I’ll be back.
I want to say something about Abdulbhai. He gave us the best service. Abdulbhai was very polite and attentive.
Highly recommend this place for great food and excellent hospitality!
What made it worse is that no one came to apologize or take responsibility. I still ended up paying, but my entire lunch break was wasted and I had to go hungry for the rest of my shift. Very upsetting and unprofessional — I hope management takes accountability and improves customer care.
From the moment you walk in, the ambience stands out. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable right away. The space is clean, well organized, and thoughtfully designed, perfect for both a relaxed brunch and a small gathering with friends or family. The lighting and overall vibe create a calm and welcoming environment that enhances the dining experience.
The food was absolutely amazing. Every dish was prepared with care and attention to detail. The flavors were rich, well balanced, and clearly made with fresh ingredients. You can genuinely taste the quality in every bite. Portions were generous, presentation was beautiful, and everything arrived fresh and hot. It is the kind of place where you take your time enjoying the meal because it is that good.
What truly elevated the experience, though, was the service. Shikha, who is also the owner, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made sure we were comfortable, checked in at the right times, and added a personal touch that made us feel valued as guests rather than just customers. Her positive energy and hospitality really stand out and reflect the heart behind the restaurant.
Overall, J&M Restaurant is a gem in Greater Sudbury. Great service, a lovely ambience, and outstanding food, all brought together by an owner who truly cares. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable experience, and I will definitely be returning.
