A soulful restaurant with a diner feel in Lexington NC. We ordered and paid for our food at the register and sat at a booth to wait for our food.

I ordered the neck bones over rice with yams and collards. The neck bones were tender and flavorful. The yams were prepared well with a little sweetness. The collards were a little salty but edible. My husband ordered the fried chicken, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese. The mac and cheese is amazing and worth the uncharge. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with a good flavor. The potato salad was heavy on the mustard.
Definitely recommend if in the area. Great for families.

Absolutely delicious soul food! Everything is made fresh to order, and you can taste the love in every bite. The owner is incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re looking for great food and great people.

Response back to owner: you’re basically saying if the food doesn’t suit my palate it doesn’t mean it’s salty since no one else complained….I find my palate to be quite diverse. I went back to read more reviews to see if I was the only one having issues regarding salty food. Seems like there are plenty of complaints about salty food. I’m sure the food does taste good if the salt was toned down. This is not to bash to small businesses as we try to support small local businesses first before big chain restaurants.
Original: Tried to call and place a pick up order, but was told to go in person. So my husband went in person. After reading so many positive google reviews, we decided to finally give it a try. We were disappointed with the rude customer service over the phone and in person..and most of all, the food! The food was so salty we couldn’t enjoy a $30 plate of oxtail, and collard greens….
the mac and cheese, hushpuppies, a little bit of the green beans (still salty but not as bad as the collars greens and oxtail) and potatoe salad was the only thing we could eat (we got a veggie plate and an oxtail plate). We finished the mac and cheese and hushpuppies, but had to order dinner elsewhere. I wonder if they taste their own food before serving. It’s so salty I don’t know how anyone can finish these dishes. It literally tastes like a 1 tsp of salt with every spoon of food. I would not recommend this place to my friends and family.

Wow. JJ Mama’s serves up flavor, soul & heart. I had THE best meal yesterday, fried chicken, sweet potatos, greens, mac & cheese & corn bread. I’m still thinking about it. I cannot wait to return. Tyleata is the owner of this warm and welcoming place. She also runs a non profit, Soulful Giving. No-one is denied food, she will feed you. She also has a small aisle of items (diapers, canned goods, clothes, toiletry items) if you need them, take them. No questions asked. She is serving her community with her heart and soul. And you can feel it when you walk in, and taste it when you sit down to eat.

Soulful as it gets! Had the wings and shrimp with fries and mac and cheese (they don’t do the Shrop plate on Sundays). Wife had the Baked spaghetti and son had the sliders and fries! Everything was exceptional! Some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten and that’s saying alot. Great customer service and clientele! We will make this a regular spot when driving through!

Good food! Great to see this establishment busy and thriving. 90% of the folks who were in the line were new customers. I met a faithful customer picking up his regular, Neck bones, rice and gravy.
We had turkey wings rice and gravy, mac and cheese and yams.
Per my 12 year old daughter the mac and cheese was blessed and highly flavored, amazing!
If you go be patient and now that great food takes time.

My husband and I had the pleasure of experiencing the Sunday Soulfood Buffet at this great establishment. The food selection was HUGE and the taste was unmatched!! Everything seasoned to perfection. The customer service was top notch and it felt like family. We engaged with other guests and the fellas laughed and talked football! Every employee was super sweet and very welcoming!! We will be back!! We are customers for life!!

First time getting food there. The food was ok, but could have been better. The service was great, they have a friendly staff. Maybe it was an ‘off’ day for them when I was there. I think they are a black-owned business so I won’t give up on them. I think I will go back one more time just to see if I have a better experience.
