Have driven past this establishment hundreds of times. After a long day in Brainerd/Baxter decided to stop.
The bar/restaurant is “northwoods” cozy.
Ordered appetizer of broasted chicken wings. You choose the rub and sauce. Absolutely delicious!
Staff was attentive and friendly.
Will definitely return.

Absolutely insane burger. I’m a burger snob and a woman who loves to travel and try new foods and this is genuinely the BEST burger I’ve ever had in my 30 years of living. Not only that but the service was top notch, AND the other patrons are super cute (see photo attached). I will absolutely be back tomorrow for the same exact thing.

Waze sent us around construction so we ended up in Garrison, Minnesota at lunch time. We came to JJ’s Bird’s Nest just outside town by Bordan Lake. From the outside it looks like a well loved roadhouse. In side it is open and airy and very welcoming. There is an outside patio, a dock, a beach volleyball net, and cornhole set. You’d never expect it when you come up on the building on the road. Our advice- stop.
We ordered cups of soup, Beef and Mushroom and Beef Noodle, a Sarah Salad (cauliflower, bacon, and lettuce with an addictive homemade dressing) and a Reuben Sandwich. The soups were homemade and a bowl would be a substantial meal in itself. Our cups of soup were filling enough that half my sandwich joined us for a snack later. The food was delicious, well made, and served quickly. Service there is great

Absolutely fantastic meal. Best burgers we have had in a long time. Onion rings were delicious and crispy. Everything was so hot and fresh. We will definitely be back the next time we pass through.

Their fried pickles are absolutely TO DIE for! The menu is pretty standard bar fare, but everything I’ve had has been pretty tasty. The service is always pretty fast and casual, so it’s a great stop for “Up North”ers. It’s also right next to a boat launch, has its own dock, a patio, and a volleyball/sand pit, so there’s plenty to do besides just eat.

This place is a hidden gem in the north. We had great food, staff was so friendly and welcoming, cozy little place. Will definitely be back again to check out more of the great food options for sure! Come try it for yourselves, you won’t be disappointed!
