We ordered two Aloha Plates (one consisting of Kalbi and Meat Jun; one with Butter Garlic Shrimp and Honey Soy Garlic Chicken); one Spicy Pork Mini Plate; and one 8-piece Mandoo. First and foremost, the food portions were amazing – come extremely hungry if you dine here! For the regular sized plate (not mini), you get to choose four different sides; the majority of the sides were outstanding but a few of them didn’t really stand out to me (e.g., mac salad, Jap Chae, and bean sprouts). This is just a personal preference but I enjoy my Jap Chae and bean sprouts warm, unless the bean sprouts are raw, then I enjoy it cold and crisp. The meat Jun was a little on the soggy side as far as texture goes (which was unfortunate because we dined in and the food didn’t have much time to soak in the condensation from the heat/styrofoam mixture), and the Kalbi was moderate at best (flavor and texture – I’ve had way better). The clear winners were the Butter Garlic Shrimp, Honey Soy Garlic Chicken, and Spicy Pork. I had no complaints over those entrées. And finally, the mandoo was excellent – I don’t know if it was because I was starving, but it definitely hit the spot…and I’ve had my fair share of mandoo around the world.
The employee working that evening was great (I believe his name was Javier, since that’s the name that was on my receipt) – he was friendly and efficient. The price-to-quantity/quality ratio was adequate, although I was shocked to see a 3% “convenience fee” if you use a credit card. So fair warning to everyone on that fee. But if you use a debit card, be sure to inform your cashier that you’re doing so because you won’t get charged the 3% fee. I know 3% isn’t huge and doesn’t necessarily break the bank, but for some, that could mean a lot. I highly respect this business for the support to the active men and women of the Armed Forces, including its Veterans – thank you for that!
Overall, I liked this restaurant as depicted in my 4-star rating. It’s definitely not up there as my top, go-to place, but I can see myself enjoying it from time-to-time…especially if I feel that the end is near and I need to eat somewhere that serves massive amounts of food so I can survive for a few days with that in my system. This restaurant is located in a decent part of the city and happens to be within respectable distance to my house. I hope this restaurant stays open for the long haul because I fear for any business that’s located in this plaza – they don’t seem to last a while…but then that’s Vegas life with respect to businesses. I highly recommend this place to everyone.
10% discount for active and retired military.
With that said.. even back home.. there was always something specifically I liked from each place.
I came to Jin’s specifically for their meat Jun and what makes it for me when it comes to any meat Jun— is their sauce, which is simple and good. I didn’t care for their pickled radish and jalapeños. But I loved their Mac salad!
My parents got Combo with Kalbi and their version of spicy chicken (separately in a box). They ate all the kalbi but said it was different taste from Hawaii. Their spicy chicken was basically fried chicken with sweet and spicy sauce and was good in its own way. But what my dad really wanted was grilled chicken with spicy flavor on it, but he still ate it all cause this family don’t waste food The corn, seaweed and broccoli was basic but good too. I didn’t care for their soy sauce potatoes.
Overall, I will definitely go back to try different stuff and sides!!
I got the mixed plate with bulgogi and original fried chicken. For the sides, I got cucumber kimchi, potato salad, japchae, and pickled radish and onion. My partner got a mini plate of lemon pepper fried chicken with japchae and potato salad. So good, even my partner loves it, and he’s picky!! Will definitely try other entrees when we get a chance :)!
