Came here for dinner on a Friday evening and was not very pleased with the food. The reviews have been mostly positive but I wasn’t blown away by the food at all. Our waitress wasn’t very knowledgeable about the food. I see long lines out the door during weekday lunch hours so I thought I would try this restaurant. There is a wait list when you arrive. It was about a 20 minute wait. No reservations by phone or online. I ordered the spicy tuna crunch roll and tempura bowl. After eating the tuna crunch roll it left my stomach with a small pain. It tasted good but it did something to my stomach. I was disappointed in the tempura bowl because the restaurant puts the tempura on top of a bed of rice then they put the dipping sauce right over the tempura and rice making the tempura soggy and not crunchy. Never seen this done in a Japanese restaurant before. Wouldn’t come here again.

People line up here on weekends before they open.

This place is a quaint little restaurant packed away in the pavilions lot, and the food is good. I like coming here for lunch because the combos are a good price and come with a variety of things.

Amazing lunch combos! The quality is great and at an excellent price. To get the limited combos you have to get hear early. We lined up about 15 minutes before opening which was perfect to get in on the first wave for a weekend lunch. The servers were very quick and the presentation is great. I enjoyed my meal and would love to return soon.

Terrible or non-existing service. We waited for the waiter to take our order for about 15 minutes, then just left. I think I was ignored because I was with my kids and they thought we won’t order enough. BTW, we do order a lot, especially sushi and sashimi. And there’s a brand new ramen place on the corner, we now go there instead :). I recommend it instead of this place. And i hope they improve, I believe in second chances :).

Super yummy place. Small on the inside so there is usually a wait. But the wait was not long at all. We came around 1 pm and they closed at 2pm. You just order and write down what you want and give them the paper so it’s easy. Food is good. Seaweed salad doesn’t have as much seaweed as I imagined it would . It has a lot of other ingredients and some of the stuff was a little bitter. But they gave free refills on the miso soup at the end. The sushi was amazing. Super good. No complaints. Overall nice place. Would come again. ☺️

Went last Thursday on a whim with a friend and can’t believe we have such a nice restaurant in Irvine. Service, quality, and presentation were nothing short of amazing. Seems like they’re packed all the time.

This was one of my dad’s favorite Japanese restaurants – their sushi and sashimi are fresh and haven’t ever had a fishy bite. Their uni special was decadent – and worth every penny if you’re into that sort of thing 🙂 but the real stars of the show for me are the uni pasta – rich, creamy and unexpected – and the hamachi Kama (yellowtail collar) – which sells out almost immediately so get there early and order it immediately.

We love Jinbei for both sushi, great atmosphere and service. It’s a small place maybe a dozen tables plus sushi bar seats, so there can be a wait. The food is always great with elegant presentation. Staff are always friendly.
