Update: We had Jim’s again last night. Food was delicious, in fact probably better than the first time. But service was not. We went early and there were not many tables, lots of front of house staff but they were too busy on their phones to worry about the customers. She was friendly when at the table but when we needed refills she told us to hold on and she continued on her phone. However, the fried mushrooms were amazing! So was the turkey.

Had Jim’s for the first time and I would definitely come back. The owner and manager were fantastic and answered so many questions and gave suggestions. Very nice people. The waitress wasn’t so great and didn’t listen very well but the others made up for her mistakes. The food was pretty good. The bbq sandwich was good but the bun was kind of just there, not really heated or anything. The prime rib sandwich was flavorful but again the bread was unimpressive and almost too much. The chicken was juicy but lacked flavor. The beans were amazing and so was the cobbler. I will definitely be back and I cant wait for the breakfast to begin but I just hope the little things are worked out as they get the hang of things.

We decided to give Jim’s BBQ a try since several other places were still closed for the holidays. I will say that Jim’s has just opened and they are still trying to figure everything out. We placed our order and the food was delivered in a short amount of time. I had the sliced beef dinner with Mac and cheese and corn. Both the sides tasted great and the meat was tender with lots of flavor. The only negative thing I had was the meat was sliced too thick. I had to cut each piece thinner myself. My wife had a loaded baked potato with chopped beef on top. She said it tasted great as well. Others at the table had chopped beef sandwiches and ribs. Everyone seemed to like all of it. Definitely worth giving Jim’s Smokehouse a try.

**Jim’s Smokehouse: A Flavorful Experience**

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at **Jim’s Smokehouse** this past Friday, and I must say, it left quite an impression. Let me walk you through our experience.

**Chopped Brisket and Sides: A Match Made in BBQ Heaven**
– My wife opted for the **chopped brisket**, and from the first bite, it was a revelation. The tenderness was unparalleled—truly “melt in your mouth.” She also enjoyed the **green bean casserole** and **macaroni and cheese** sides.

**Prime Rib: A WOW Moment**
– As for me, I couldn’t resist the allure of the **Friday special: prime rib**. And let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. Succulent, perfectly seasoned, and oh-so-satisfying. The only hiccup? It arrived on a plastic plate, causing it to cool off too quickly. A heated plate would have been a game-changer.

**Barracho Beans and Coleslaw: Flavor Explosion**
– The **barracho (Pinto) beans** were a delightful surprise—loaded with extras and bursting with flavor. And the **coleslaw**, with its coarse cut, hit the spot just right.

**Brunch: A Mixed Bag**
– The next morning, I returned with a friend for brunch. Adding the **barracho beans** to my meal and swapping toast for corn tortillas was a smart move. However, the **diced potato hash browns** fell short—they were cold and chewy. The breakfast was pricy, akin to what you’d find at IHOP.

**Atmosphere and Service**
– The restaurant is still finding its footing in terms of ambiance. It’s new and straightforward, lacking that cozy vibe. But cleanliness is a priority here, including spotless restrooms. I found the chairs uncomfortable and will seek out a booth upon my next visit.
– The wait staff was friendly, and quick to address a couple of sides they were out of. However, instead of the usual “Can I help you?” or “Are y’all ready to order?”, a warmer welcome would go a long way. Imagine: “Welcome to Jim’s Smokehouse! We’re thrilled to have you. Tonight’s star? The delectable prime rib. I’m Jane, your server—feel free to ask about our menu!”

‍ **The Owner’s Visit**
– Kudos to the owner, who made the rounds. A genuinely nice person who cares about the diner experience.

**Potato Predicament**
– One minor hiccup: They were out of **baked or mashed potatoes**, which I would have preferred over the coleslaw.

**Final Verdict**
– Despite a few bumps, I’ll be back for dinner. The lure of those ribs beckons, and I want to witness this restaurant’s growth firsthand. Plus, supporting a local gem like Jim’s Smokehouse feels like a privilege.

Remember, every restaurant has its quirks, but it’s the overall experience that matters. Cheers to good food and memorable moments! ️

I got a 2 meat plate with ribs and chicken w/ Mac & Cheese and Coleslaw. Definitely going to be back here,it’s been a good while since I’ve had some authentic Texas BBQ ❤️. The meat was just falling off the bone(s) with an excellent smoke flavor. This place is a 10/10!!!

The BBQ was good – brisket was tender with just enough fat, pulled pork was great, and the ribs were just right. Texas toast was perfect, the BBQ sauce wasn’t needed but is delicious anyway. The sides (mac and cheese, borracho beans) were really good. Jim (the owner) came out and checked on each customer while we were there – he is really friendly guy, and he said he’s available if there are any complaints about the food or service. It is refreshing to have a good sit-down BBQ place, with an involved owner, in a small town – and Jim’s is just that!

I love eating here! The ribs and brisket are the best I’ve ever had. All of the sides I’ve had are really good too. The Mac n cheese has real cheese not the fake stuff. I’ve never seen a bbq restaurant have daily specials. Everything is homemade and fresh. The service is great too. The owner came over to our table and chatted with us to make sure everything was to our liking. This is our new favorite!

The pulled pork sandwich is a repeat favorite of mine. The buttered grilled bun has a great crispness, The bark on the pulled pork is a welcome surprise. The brown sugar bourbon baby carrots are beyond compare, and I’ve literally traveled the world. The staff are kind and helpful. The owner’s son did tell me that their BBQ is a 15 hour process of pride, love and quality. Small town charm, unbeatable barbecue this side of the Red River.

This building is doomed. Nothing that is here is ever good. My family went here and we had so much excitement from what our friends told us about the food. We waited about 40 minutes until we even got drinks and then our food took another 25-30 minutes. The food was all cold and tasted like it was a week old. Nobody even cared that we weren’t happy and they didn’t ask us if we liked our dinner. The brisket was so chewy like they only cooked it for about 8 hours on a pellet smoker and had no taste. Our beans and corn were what you would expect from a 1980s school cafeteria. Just a shameful experience for what we paid. There is no soul here and I hope they can do better or they won’t last a year. The only positive thing I can say is the restaurant is beautiful and they did a good job painting and buying new tables/chairs. If you want a great dinner you better just go to Braums or buy you some frozen pizza from Dollar Tree. These people ain’t doing no TEXAS BBQ.
