Fabulous bar. Food looked great, creole influence but I didn’t try. The bartender was fantastic. Exactly what you want in a friendly bartender. Good beer selection. Good vibes in that place.

I would go there in the early 70s with my brother when I was in KC. Many fond memories of good food and people there.

Absolutely the best experience ever! The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was full of charm and history. The bartender, who was his grandson, shared touching stories about his late grandfather, after whom the Jamestown neighborhood is named. It was truly special to hear the history firsthand while enjoying a great meal. Highly recommend!

Between medical school and residencies I spent 9 years at the Kansas University Medical Center in the 1980s. My father spent time there as well in the 1950s while he trained at KUMC.
Jimmy’s Jigger (and Jimmy himself, of course) was always a part of our story during those times. Every student and staff at KUMC knew Jimmy personally for almost 50 years.
Everyone related to the medical center was really saddened when the bar changed hands in 1991. It wasn’t the same after Jimmy left. It was now just another sports bar and the one time I returned during that period was dreadful because it had been just ruined. Not the same experience.
I live in Virginia now so I hadn’t heard Jimmy’s grandson had restored the Jigger. I recently brought my daughter and grandson into the Jigger and about fell through the floor when I saw Timmy behind the bar! He is the spitting image of his grandfather. We talked for over an hour. Great guy, just like Jimmy. I am so happy that the best bar in KC has been restored to its original mission.

If you want a bar that knows your name and treats you like a family friend, this is it. The history is rich, the food is amazing and the staff is one of a kind.

Great little bar. Has a kind of old school dive feel. It shares a kitchen with Jazz so the foods great too. Does have it’s own entrance on the corner of 39th and Stateline under their “The Jigger” sign.
