100/10 will be back!
The wife had Linguini with Alfredo and Meatballs. This was her own design, because she loves the Meatballs. We have came for lunch and ordered the Meatballs and a side salad as a meal. The Alfredo had a smooth consistency and clung to the Linguini. Very creamy and smooth.
My daughter had Chicken Picatta. The Chicken was perfectly prepared, thin, tender, with just a light sear. The lemon and caper sauce had a great flavor. Smooth and clung to the Spaghetti noodles. She loved it.
All the meals came with a side salad and garlic knots. The bread had a brown crust, and bits of real garlic, really good. The salads were fresh, with crisp lettuce, slices of tomato, cucumber, and slivers of red onion. I had French dressing, the ladies had the house made Italian.
I highly recommend you come give it a try.
Nothing was bad, but it wasn’t good either. The house salad was as basic as could be, with the bonus if some random FOD that I just moved to the rim. The chicken, where do I begin? How do you boil a chicken tender and also make it tough? The sauce was bland; the capers being the only thing with flavor. It completely lacked lemon. It’s weird because the pasta wasn’t dry, and it appeared to have “stuff” but it just didn’t taste like anything. It was as if it were sauced with unsalted butter.
The dish would greatly benefit from actual chicken breasts, butterflied and pan seared. Some malliard reaction would do wonders for the lack of flavor and presentation both. I mean, we aren’t in the UK and we don’t have to boil everything.
The restaurant is clean and bright, but it’s also sterile. There’s Italian music of some sort playing overhead, but the tables are void of anything, no decorations, no seasonings, just, empty like the parking lot.
Service was good, being both friendly but not annoyingly clingy.
Both dishes were tasty, fresh and piping hot. The rolls were a real treat. Our server was friendly and attentive. We also ordered a to go meal which was ready promptly. The atmosphere was extra nice as they were decorating for Christmas. This was our first visit but it won’t be our last.
The garlic rolls came out cold and just didn’t taste good. Garlic rolls should be warm, soft, buttery, and full of flavor — these tasted like plain bread that had been sitting around.
I ordered the lasagna, and it honestly didn’t resemble lasagna at all. Lasagna should have clear layers, a rich meat sauce, and be well-seasoned. What I got was bland, mushy, and tasted like it was thrown together with no care.
We also ordered pizza, and it was by far the worst pizza I’ve had in Dayton. The crust was lifeless, the sauce had no flavor, and the cheese tasted cheap and overcooked. A good pizza should have balance — this had none.
What made the experience even worse was the manager. He was rude, dismissive, and acted like he was above any kind of feedback. Instead of trying to fix the situation, he just came off as arrogant.
This location really needs to work on customer service and the overall dining experience. Going like this isn’t going to keep the doors open. It’s disappointing because we’ve had great experiences at the other Jimmy’s, but we won’t be coming back to this one.
Jimmy’s Italian Cuisine just feels like home. The food was great, but Jamie really made the experience special. Super friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we sat down. It had that real neighborhood, community vibe where you’re not just another table. You can tell they care here. Can’t wait to come back. ❤️
