Great food and ambiance. We ate here per the recommendation of our hotel and it did not disappoint. Many different options on the menu to ensure there is something for everyone. I enjoyed the seafood medley and the chicken parm was good too.

October 2025: we came in on a quiet Sunday night for dinner and were generally pleased with our experience. We were greeted promptly and shown to a lovely table with views of mirror lake. After taking our drink orders we were given warm bread with zesty garlic and olive oil dipping sauce. I had a beet salad and linguine with clams. The beet salad was wonderful, the linguine dish wasn’t great. The clams were chopped with only 4 whole clams served around the bowl, it was rather bland and unappetizing. My mom had the eggplant parm which she raved about! We shared a piece of chocolate cake and it was rich and delicious. The price was high but not more so than other restaurants in this touristy area. It was quiet so we could concentrate on chatting, the lighting is pleasant as is the staff.

Where to begin??

I am a pretty harsh critic when it comes to food and doubly spoiled having lived in NYC for the last 16 years or so, so when I travelled to Mirror Lake for my honeymoon last week I didn’t have the absolute highest expectations from the local Italian place my wife had booked for us.

Well I can take my prissy spoiled NY attitude and shove it because this was hands down some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life, not just Italian, but ever.

Our first night, overlooking the scenic frozen lake with fantastic service and atmosphere, we both had surf and turf with a fried calamari appetizer. We ordered some side sauces that were extraordinary but honestly you didn’t need them at all. The steak was perfectly cooked, the asparagus beautifully tasty and crispy on the ends, with a seasoned delicious healthy serving of lobster tail. I may have had a bit too much of the appetizer or something because this was the first time in my life I wasn’t able to finish the filet. Fantastic portions. Paired with a delicious bottle of wine, we’re both still raving over it.

I actually asked my wife to cancel our reservation two nights later so we could come back a second time where I was treated to the most fantastic frutti di mare I’ve ever had, hands down.

I’ve sampled Italian restaurants all over and nothing has even come close to how hearty and delicious this food was, and I’m so pissed I will have to wait until next year to come back.

If you’re visiting lake placid and you’re craving Italian, this is the only place you ever need to even consider.

We like Italian food. This place did not disappoint. We had an outside table with a view of the lake. Reservations could get you a table on the top deck! We had their signature lagazna and salmon. Both wonderful.

July 2025: My husband and I were visiting the Adirondacks area and were walking the downtown strip in Lake Placid looking for a place to have dinner.

My husband walked into Jimmy’s and asked a gentleman working there if they had any reservations open. The place was PACKED on a Tuesday night. The man responded, “when do you want to come in?” My husband said “in 40 minutes?” The man responded, “see you at 7!” Turns out, the man was none other than Jimmy himself!

We were seated at a table on the patio overlooking beautiful Mirror Lake. The service was impeccable- we were literally treated like family. Everything we ate was outstanding and we couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience! We believe that Jimmy’s being family owned and operated is what made the experience stand out above the rest.

Had a lovely dinner with my team here. I got the salmon was delish and my friend got the rigatoni which also looked delicious and tasted amazing. They gave us complimentary bread with this garlic oil spread. All I have to say is ‍

A table right near the window. Very attentive waiter. Excellent food. I only had a side salad and the meatball appetizer but that was plenty for a meal along with the bread. Definitely a place to go.

Right on Mirror Lake with spectacular views. Dining on the deck is a must weather permitting. We have never had a bad meal in all the years we have dined here. Service is good and they will accommodate any requests such as substituting sides.

Vodka pasta and lobster ravioli were very good! So was the bread and the oil to start. We would recommend saying yes to Parmesan for the vodka pasta.

We just wish the food was a little warmer when it came out. It was sort of warm, but not hot by any means. There was also a short black hair deep in the vodka pasta…so it’s probably been there for a while.

All and all, a very lovely night! Would go again and order the same thing in a heartbeat!

Great setting with view of the lake and fantastic service! Food however was very bad, we ordered steak medium rare, it came out almost well-done. Pasta and chicken were watery, soggy and absolutely tasteless. Instant noodles have more flavour… just horrible. Finished the chicken because we just came back from a huge hike… could not make myself eat that disgusting pasta though, absolutely horrible. $120 with tips for 2 mains, diet coke and moktail. Left full of regret for falling for this trap and spending this type of money. Would not touch the food at all if we would not be starving. The restaurant should stick to mac n cheese and fried calamari perhaps… Avoid this place if you are expecting a decent piece of meat or a classic pasta dish.
