Great Food, Appalling “Gatekeeping” by Management

​I’ve always been a fan of the food here, but my recent experience at this location was frankly appalling. I never thought I’d feel bullied over a request to toast a sandwich, but here we are.

​The “Toasting” Runaround

​I came in wanting a Veggie Lil’ John toasted. I know how I like it: bread and cheese toasted first, then the cold toppings added. Simple, right? Apparently not. The cashier (who I believe was the manager) gave me a bizarre, escalating series of excuses:

​”We don’t toast.”

​”We only toast specialty sandwiches.”

​”I can toast it, but only if you upsell to a regular size.”

​The blatant attempt to gatekeep a toaster behind a price jump was ridiculous. When I asked, “So you’re telling me I can only have it toasted if I go larger?” she doubled down and said yes. It felt less like a policy and more like a high-pressure sales tactic.

​A Tale of Two Employees:

​The contrast in service was jarring:

​The Cashier/Manager:

Confrontational, rude, and made me feel like my presence was a burden. There is no reason for a sandwich order to feel like a power struggle.

​The Sandwich Maker:

A complete professional. While the manager was busy being difficult, the coworker was already showing her it could be done and started executing my request. She was happy to assist with my “creation” and kept assuring me everything was fine.

​The Verdict:

​The sandwich was amazing—exactly as I wanted. But I usually don’t like spending my hard-earned money where the staff makes me feel like I’m not supposed to be there. Whether this is a franchise or corporate-owned, the “bullying” atmosphere at the register needs to be addressed.

​To the sandwich maker:

Thank you for the kindness. To the manager: It’s just a toaster.

This was my 1st visit to a Jimmy John’s and the sandwich is delicious. The person preparing my food was courteous and friendly but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the ladies room. It was the cleanest facility I think I have ever been in. Kuddos to this location for making this an excellent visit!

I had a terrible experience at Jimmy John’s. I waited forever for my food because there was only one person working the entire store—taking orders, making sandwiches, and running the register. It was clear they were overwhelmed, and it made the service painfully slow. Not “freaky fast” at all. Do better.

Sandwich is just as good as all other JJ. Not the best but I still love it. Very high in price for above mediocre sandwich. When ready, service is good. Hence when ready. I came during opening hours and I was told they’re not open. I said it’s 1 min before opening. Turns out they haven’t gotten the store ready or the bread baked yet. Just like any restaurant, everything including food should be ready before opening. No excuse for trying to usher me out. Because of that, atmosphere seem to sour. I’m I wrong? I decide to wait instead of going to another restaurant. 4 star for food which is good, because they are. You’ll have enjoy this JJ more if you came 30 min after opening.

Always been pleased with the customer service and how the employees were able to get my order correct each time but on 4/12/2023 my drive-thru order was wrong. They were too busy talking and laughing and completely forgot to put the toppings that I requested on my sandwich. I was on my lunch break so it was too far to return and have them correct their mistake. Food is too expensive to be getting the order wrong.

“Freaky Good service”
I wanted to take the time to say I really appreciate this location. Not only are they “freaky fast” every single time I come here but the place is also always spotless.
I’m a truck driver and during the pandemic it’s almost impossible to find somewhere that has a bathroom open to the public. This location is open and the bathrooms are always amazingly clean. It means a lot to us who don’t have the option of running back home or to the office. Thank you!
