I had the real crab with fish eggs California roll, tempura shrimp roll, and seaweed salad. Photo has one less California roll since I grabbed one to taste. The co-owner Salvador was friendly and kind. They accept cash, Zelle, Venmo. No credit cards, which is a bummer. Give this new sushi business a try!

So we ordered honey walnut prawns, orange chicken with chowmein and egg rolls, sweet n sour pork with chowmein and egg rolls, crab ragoons, wor wonton soup.
1. Honey, walnut prawns were good. The sauce was on the thicker side, but the portions for the price were just right for my pocket.
2. both the combo plates are HUGE. The egg rolls weren’t a favorite for anyone, but it’s hard to find really good egg rolls they tasted soggy in the middle, like doughy. The chowmein has excellent flavor, and they use them big fatty noodles. Sweet n sour sauce was ok. I would order it again because the price for a dinner combo is unbeatable, in my opinion.
3. Wor wonton soup was good, definitely would order again it was hearty for sure no complains on ratio of meat vs veggies vs wonton. A little on the salter side, but nothing like a splash of apple cider vinegar to balance it out and some garlic chili sauce.
4. The last thing is the crab ragoons… it was a bit off putting when you’re expecting cream cheese and imitation crab. These ones had crab and cheddar cheese and something else. Unless I was in the mood for that style, I probably wouldn’t order it again.
My only other complaint is I would have expected it to be hot when I picked it up, there was a little delay in the order being ready so that’s why I’m like the food should have been steaming and i only live 5 mins away.
Overall, I’d order from there again.

To be honest with you, I’ve been to a lot of places, but I was very satisfied here at Jimmys The sashimi was excellent if you ever come down here just ask for Salvador He’ll take care of you.

Place hasn’t been open in a couple of months. It doesn’t look like it’s ever going to re-open.
Update, I went by Jimmies Place on Yosemite Avenue in Modesto today and yesterday and the restaurant wasn’t open. Not sure if they have permanently closed.
I enjoyed getting Sushi from Jimmie’s Place in Stockton for a couple of years now. After moving to the Modesto area I had made a few trips to Jimmie’s Place in Stockton to enjoy some awesome Sushi. I am absolutely delighted that a Jimmie’s Place has opened in Modesto! I gave this location a try the other day and everything was great! The Sushi was amazing and the staff were very attentive. I can’t wait to go back for some more great food!

I went to Jimmies Place to pick up some sushi and noticed that there were new employees. I placed my order to go, paid and left. When I got home I noticed the quality of the sushi was not nearly as good as the quality was when Salvador was making the sushi.
I have been enjoying the sushi from Jimmies Place for a couple of years now. Having moved to this area from Stockton a few months ago, it had been amazing to find quality affordable sushi without having to drive to Stockton. I hope the owner addresses the quality issues. I would hate to have to find a new place for sushi.
