Amazing sushi spot in Friday Harbor! The sushi is incredibly fresh, tasty, and absolutely delicious. They also offer a fun selection of sake, whether you prefer it warm or cold. Other beverages as well, alcoholic or non alcoholic beer. The service was excellent—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. A must-visit if you’re in Friday Harbor! Walking distance from the ferry terminal.
We enjoyed the spicy garlic edamame, spicy tuna roll, Mount Baker roll, tempura shrimp roll, sashimi which was outstanding! The tempura veggies were crisp and delicious. The gyoza was a fun add. Such a fun night! Group of seven very full, very happy! We will be back! Thank you!

The food at Jima Sushi was delicious, with fresh sushi and good service. We were just 2 people, ordering 2 bowls of ramen, 1 sushi plate, ice cream, and hot tea. However, a 20% gratuity was automatically added, and we also tipped 20%, bringing the total to nearly $150 – quite high for this amount of food.
Besides, the restroom was not available at the time we visited, which was inconvenient. I hope the restaurant reconsiders how gratuity is applied for small parties and ensures restroom access for customers.

Came here when the dinner time ferry was canceled to have some sashimi. They were understandably slammed just a few hours before their closing due to the ferry closures that day.

We were sat at the bar for two people, not a problem there but it did take about 15 minutes for a server to come over and take our order and then everything was pretty much long waits thereafter. Luckily, everyone had a good attitude and the sashimi was super fresh and delicious. They didn’t have gluten-free or tamari Soy sauce and they were out of both chicken and beef yakitori and brussels sprouts that we came in to get.

The bathroom situation is a little awkward with one key in use only and an out of restaurant location across the breezeway.

Yellowtail + salmon sashimi and one unsweetened iced tea came out to $45 before tax and tip.

Jima Sushi in Friday Harbor truly impressed us. The food was amazing—the shrimp tempura was perfectly crisp, and the dinner special spider roll was both fresh and flavorful. What really set our visit apart was the exceptional service; the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy, making our experience feel genuinely special. Highly recommend for both the delicious sushi and the warm, attentive service.

We visited over the holiday weekend, this place did not disappoint. The mixed nigiri plate was melt in your mouth good. My mother does not eat sushi, She ordered the shrimp tempura udon and absolutely loved it. Although she wasn’t a fan of the mushrooms, so I ended up finishing the bowl but no complaints there, the broth was amazing! My son got the spicy ramen and loved it, the meat was so tender that we made emoji faces with the veggies and meat while we waited for the sushi!

The food was really really good, and even with how busy it was, the service was friendly and attentive. We’ll definitely be back every time we visit Friday Harbor!

The only good part about this restaurant was the server, he was extremely kind and friendly, and honestly gave off the impression that he might be the manager or even the owner. He was the only one in the front area who seemed to genuinely care about customer service and was actually doing his job attentively. Unfortunately, the food and overall experience did not live up to expectations. Most of the items were significantly overpriced for what they offered. The sushi roll was just okay, nothing memorable, and the soy ramen was especially disappointing—it lacked flavor and tasted very bland. To make matters worse, the small bowl of ramen cost $22, which would have been more acceptable if the quality had matched the price. The pork included in the ramen was burnt on both sides, making it even more unappetizing. On top of that, they didn’t even have all the items available on the menu, which is surprising for a Saturday night when you’d expect a restaurant to be fully stocked. Overall, I wouldn’t return and don’t recommend this place unless major improvements are made.

Excellent restaurant. The Sushi rolls and sashimi are high quality, made timely, and served with a smile.

The rolls were a good balance of interesting and varied flavors, while still being delicate and traditional. (Though I love a deep fried roll, this is not the place to look for one.) The sashimi was fresh and buttery.

The overall atmosphere was that it was casual, but not raucous.

The only drawback that I observed was when I asked for hot green tea, I was given lukewarm black tea. But it was still tea, so there’s that.

9/10, would go again.

Spot by for mid lunch at like 3pm. No reservations but they said they could squeeze us in. They gave us a table on the patio. We were the only table out there. Felt like we were tossed aside but surprisingly the manager came by to check on us often and the service was quick.

Ordered chicken karaage, Kara miso Ramen, shoyu Ramen and half baked roll. Chicken karaage was a terrible miss. The chicken was extra cooked almost burnt, too crunchy and hard and the salt flakes on top made the entire dish too salty. Maybe season the batter more and you won’t have to add salt flakes on top. Both Ramen were fine. Chewy noodles and broth was fine. Meat tasted burnt and looked burnt. Like on a grill and charred too long burnt. Still tender though. Hard to explain. The only good dish was the half baked roll. Everything else I wouldn’t order again. Maybe just stick to the sushi.

I got a chicken yakitori bowl to go. Online ordering was smooth process on their website. The meal was on the heavy side of charred. The burnt meat over took any flavor it had. I ate around the meat after the second piece. Sushi is okay though.

After posting this review, the owner called immediately the next day to apologize and refund me for the meal. I appreciated this action & response, Thank you Mike.

Food was fine when it eventually arrived, but that’s only because we had time to imagine it for an hour and a half first. Our order was apparently never put in, and despite the restaurant not being busy, no one checked on us, followed up, or seemed remotely aware that we’d been sitting there indefinitely. Mistakes happen; being ignored for 90 minutes does not. If basic service and situational awareness are too much to ask, there are better places on San Juan Island to spend your time (and appetite).
