Slightly off of the “beaten” path but worth finding and worth stopping. The BBQ is some of tho best found anywhere; very tender and not heavily seasoned or dried out. Inside atmosphere is very family friendly with an outdoor patio for an even more relaxing experience. Service is excellent and courteous. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. These restaurants are located across the South so don’t pass one by if you are in the area.

During my first visit to Alabama, one of our stops was a place that my husband highly recommended, as he is from Alabama and said it was very popular. I can confidently say it had the best brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and coleslaw I have ever had in America. We travel a lot and enjoy BBQ, but this was by far the best for me. Oh, and the cheese biscuits were delicious, as well as the lemon icebox pie!

Our server Becca was so kind and attentive! We got the southern salad, bbq sandwich meal & kids sandwich meal but subbed in chicken instead of pork and she was so great about our accommodations! The cheese biscuits are always a highlight and it was no different this time, our drinks stayed filled and the food came out fresh and hot! It’s so hard to pick because there is so much good stuff, highly recommend!

Had heard about Alabama white sauce and stopped in to try some. Had it with the pulled chicken and it was delicious. The brisket with their bbq sauce was also very tasty. The biscuits were amazing – even bought a pack of the mix to go! Service from the hostess to the server were very welcoming and friendly. Nick (not the owner) did a wonderful job taking care of use. Would definitely come back the next time I’ in Tuscaloosa.

I have never had an issue with the food quality at Jim ’N Nick’s prior to my most recent order. I typically visit the Sharpsburg, Georgia location, which is consistently spot on. I’ve ordered from Jim ’N Nick’s many times, and it’s usually my family’s go-to for holiday meals and gatherings.
This was only my second time visiting the Tuscaloosa, Alabama location, and unfortunately it may be my last. While passing through Alabama, I placed an order totaling close to $150. I ordered spare ribs and chicken, neither of which had any noticeable smoke flavor. Instead, it tasted as though barbecue sauce had simply been poured over the meat rather than the food being properly smoked.
Additionally, the collard greens were bland and overcooked, and the baked beans were significantly sweeter than usual. Overall, the quality was far below what I’ve come to expect from Jim ’N Nick’s.
I am very disappointed, especially given my long-standing positive experiences at other locations.

We came to the restaurant after a football game after having walked to several restaurants that had really long wait times. I explained to Sheyna, the hostess, that my husband’s sugar was dropping because he is diabetic. I told her we would wait for a table but if she could just get him a couple of cheese biscuits it would help his blood sugar. She immediately got him the biscuits to eat while we waited. She also worked to get a table cleaned for us to get us seated quickly. Nick, our waiter, came quickly, took our order quickly, and made sure my husband had everything he needed. The food was great and the staff was so kind! Thank you, Sheyna, hostess, and our waiter, Nick, for being great at your jobs and taking care of us!
