1/17 VERY DISAPPOINTED. This place used to be really good when the chef cared about the quality of the food.

Ramen broth is now watery, tastes like it was made with instant ramen powder. Low quality. Even their signature noodle soup was watery and lacking flavor like when they first opened. Everything we ordered was a signature dish but it was exceedingly low quality and sad. Not sure what happened to the chef and the kitchen. Seems like they fired and hired the wrong people.

The only thing was that good was the servers, they were incredibly friendly and apologizing. Regardless, will no be coming back after a poor meal from the kitchen.

Owners should listen to feedback of a loyal customer. The place will close if major improvements are not made.

Great place! Our family loved the stir fired udon as well as the Claypot rice. We also had the mala noodles, but it was too spicy for some of us. 🙂

Good selection of noodles and side dishes. Clay pot rice is suggested to order that first since it takes about 15-25min to prepare. Wish the AC was stronger on the side of the restaurant’s entrance. It got really hot midway through the noodles and clay pot rice. Consider adding a ceiling fan for that area maybe.

Decent priced claypot dishes and noodle soups.
Rich flavor on the house special chicken noodles.
We have the claypot rice with spare ribs , crispy bottom , but milder side on flavor, could use some sweetness.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while driving down International Blvd. Saw the “soft opening” sign and decided to give it a try. Glad we did. The food was flavorful and the service was excellent. We ordered a variety dishes. (See photos). Will definitely be coming back.

Dropped by over the weekend for dinner. The place wasn’t crowded, but did have a few tables filled.

The service was good and we were checked on often during out stay. We ordered the tripe and scallion pan cakes as the appitizer. They were both okay. The main course was the spare rib / rice clay pot. It came out hot and was hot enough to give the rice a crispy texture. The flavors were spot on.

Definitely going to try again

Their stir-fried udon is super flavorful and hits just right—so satisfying! The mixed noodles are nice and tangy with a kick, totally addictive!

TL;DR: A nice addition to the downtown San Leandro food scene.

We ordered the mala spicy noodles with beef brisket and a rice claypot with pork ribs and chinese sausage. We really enjoyed both dishes.

The mala spicy noodles were pretty spicy, more than I expected, but the flavor was great. The beef brisket was tender and delicious.

The claypot was also good. Solid technique that resulted in a good amount of burnt, crunchy rice bits.

We also ordered some appetizers: cucumber salad, cold cut chicken, and crispy fried pork. The appetizers were a bit disappointing. Probably a pass next time.

Lastly, the brown sugar boba milk tea was awful. The tea was way too light and tasted watered down. It became undrinkable after the ice melted a little.

We will be back for their entrees and will pass on the appetizers and drinks.

I’ve been wanting to try Jibeichuan in San Leandro ever since I heard it opened a few days ago. Today, I was passing by and decided to get a takeaway chicken rice noodle soup.
The first few bites were okay, but then I bit into a piece of chicken and noticed a strange, chemical-like taste, almost like cleaning detergent. The more I ate, the more something felt off. My boyfriend tried it too and agreed the taste was weird. I’m not sure if the chicken was spoiled or if something else got on it during preparation in the kitchen, but it was a really disappointing meal overall.
I wanted to call the store directly to give feedback, but I couldn’t find a phone number listed on Google Maps.
For those who are particular about food quality control, I’d suggest being cautious about trying this place.
