A robot delivers your food after you order from the iPad on every station. Super easy, and then you grill, adjusting the fire as you wish (yes, you’re encouraged to control the gas knob) for searing to perfection.
I went alone, and after fasting the entire morning (I take this very seriously lol) , I ate 25 items!!!! Mostly beef, checkout my receipt lol and reply if you come close. MY FAVE was the garlic beef and the Kidney slices were really interesting too.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. Also, they have a mini station for sauces, spices, rices, soups. Great for big groups too, great ambience inside with old school rnb and hiphop when I went, and lots of people but not overly full.
Supposedly free parking is available but I parked on the street. Can’t wait to go back and break my record.
The side bar is simple but good. Featuring sides like dumplings, white rice, and fried rice. The sides themselves were all pretty good so if meat is less of your thing then you can still get sufficiently full off these alone. The sauces they had were good as well, specifically their sesame and chili oil, although they have about another 5-6 sauces to offer. When we returned to our seats the meat arrived and it was time to start grilling. We ordered many different cuts and every single one was good to great. The biggest hits were the bone in rib, boneless short rib, and pork belly. All the meat cooked quickly and somehow the grill didn’t get too charred or mucked up by the cooking process.
By the time we were done eating we were stuffed and happy with the quality of the food we just ate. They do offer dessert but the options are much smaller. If you’re in the area looking for a good, cheap AYCE buffet then this is definitely the spot for you as it checks off all the marks you need.
Ugh I hate doing this but also gotta be honest… We walked in at 8, and were told it was a half hour wait. We put our name down and went to other shops in Chinatown meanwhile. Around 9 we decided to pop back in since we hadn’t received a call. As we walked in the host claimed she had JUST called us…seems like she just forgot or assumed we left.
Once sat, the server didn’t really explain how the hot pot or BBQ worked (I’ve been to places like these before but I did tell him it was my first time there specifically.) We figure out we have to go pick our meat from the fridges, and our sides. At this point all the sides were running low, they ran out of rice. And within 10 minutes of being seated we were being rushed to order our last bits, because they were closing.
The food itself was pretty disappointing. None of the meats were seasoned. The sides were all cold too. And ultimately the hot pot was the nail in the coffin. We ordered mild and medium…but even the mild was RIDICULOUSLY spicy. We let the server know that after only 2 bites we couldn’t eat it. He basically said that Chinese people tend to like their hot spot spiciness level. This didn’t offend me per se, but I kinda feel that regardless of ethnicity…if food isn’t good we shouldn’t be gaslit into believing it’s our own fault. I asked for a manager and was told there was no one. We paid full price for our meals.
By 10:30 the place was cleared of the employees, leaving one server and 2 tables. At 10:50 she asked us to leave in a very nice way. I really wasn’t upset because I knew we were over the time, but it was just a bad experience all around. I don’t think I will be returning.
There’s lots of cross contamination, especially at the raw meat section. The food thongs are literally on the meat, I guess you have no choice but to grab it with the meat juice on it. The prepared food is messy with bad odors too. I can taste the spoil sour from the noodles. I’m unsure about the taste but the presentation is so bad and unappetizing unfortunately :(( Meat quality is bad, tough cut and chewy.
The service is inattentive and lacking. No one changed the grill or put more broth in the hotpot, no cleaning plate, stingy on napkins and no water/ drinks refill. I get it if it was busy but it wasn’t. The recommended tip is also being calculated with post tax amount.
Good and decent spot if you are not looking for much.
I stuck with the beef dishes, delicious, and tried some of the sides from the buffet style bar including beef fried rice and fried chicken nuggets. Don’t forget to load up on the sauces.
The place was clean, parking is plentiful (there’s a free attached garage off Archer, and the servers were helpful.
Keep an eye out for the wandering robot server!
