i absolutely love this place. the sandwiches are great and it’s right by my work. most the people there know me by name and this place truly deserves 5 stars. the only reason i have it as 4 is because there’s a blond guy there that refuses to give me extra onions when i ask. he’s done it twice now. the first time he made my sandwich i asked for extra onions and he gave me 2 extra pieces then ignored me when i asked for more. i was back today and he grabbed a handful of onions and portioned it into my sandwich. i said “i’ll take that whole handful” and he straight up said “i’m not doing that” and puts half the handful back. everyone else though is amazing and deserves more than 5 stars for THEIR service.

Got scolded by an employee for about 25 seconds because I asked for a plain turkey and not a number 7. I’ve never been here before.Disgusting attitude. Didn’t catch his name but he has tattoos and piercings all over. Guy at the register was great.

Last week, this week and next week there will be millions of Philly Cheesesteaks (the original kind with thinly-slice beef) cheessteaks sold in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Northern Virginia and DC. There are many millions of people there, and they eat millions of cheesesteaks every week. And almost every one of those cheesesteaks will be eaten with ketchup on it.

But, somehow, when you order an Original Philly Cheesesteak from Jersey Mike’s in Salem, Oregon, they have no ketchup, none in bottles, none in squeeze packets, nothing. You can’t get ketchup with a cheesesteak, the way it’s supposed to be, and the way it actually is, in and around the birthplace of the Philly Cheesesteak.

“No one puts ketchup on a Philly Cheesesteak”, says the guy behind the counter here.

This is akin to McDonald’s not having ketchup, and the employee telling you that “No one puts ketchup on a cheeseburger”.

Maybe he doesn’t put ketchup on his cheeseburger, but millions of people can’t eat a cheeseburger without ketchup, that is the way they want it.

It’s exactly the same with a cheesesteak. It doesn’t matter to me if there are people in Oregon that put some foo-foo dressing on a cheesesteak, or put mayonaise and tomatos and lettuce on a cheesesteak (both examples a crime against all that is holy regarding cheesesteaks), live and let live, I say. But, isn’t there some way to make it possible for a man to eat his cheesesteak the original way, the best way, the OG way that is still preferred by many, many millions of cheesesteak lovers in the most populated part of the these United States?

I’m willing to bet the cheesesteak I got here would have been so delicious if I could have have put ketchup on it while it was still hot.

This was my first and last time at this store. A couple of days ago I was targeted online for birthday specials. It turns out most of these stores in this birthday special we’re not participating in any kind of birthday special. The other stores that were in the special but not participating wish me a happy birthday and apologize for the mis-communication. This store was the only one where I was yelled at for even asking for the birthday special. I don’t know the man’s name but he’s a skinny man with neck tattoos and facial piercing and a small facial tattoos that yelled at me. The food was good but there was about half a cup of vinegar in the bottom of the bowl.

Ordered the Italian sandwich as a bowl and they ‘forgot’ the lettuce, which is half the volume. In the photo you will see some lettus. there was less than 1/4 cup. Meaning i got meat and some mayo. Also no Italian sauce. since this is my go to order, i was quite surprised. to add another annoyance, I ordered on the app, and instead of using my ‘home’ store, it randomly switched the order to this center street location. I normally order from the commercial store. The edge water gives larger portions, but its a longer drive.

Hair in my sandwich! Kid at register couldn’t have cared less about it and he didn’t even give me my refund back. Said it’d be in my account in three days and laughed it off yet I haven’t seen the money back.

As one of the other reviewes said, you cannot get ketchup here to put on your Original Philly Cheesesteak. I’m from Philly and how can it be original if there’s no ketchup? And also, that’s the way they eat cheesesteaks down at the Jersey Shore, so you’re 0 for 2 , JERSEY MIKE’S.

We will not be back. I am severely diabetic and I get gout easily. They have a “mini” size sandwich that is not available in any meat that will not cause me gout. And they were NOT willing to make an exception. They ofered a medium or large sandwich that I would need to eat for another meal (yuck) or throw away (it is way too expensive for that!).

At about 11:50am on 9/14/25. Kid making my sandwich made a easy mistake. Sandwich infront of me asked for bacon he put bacon on mine to did not ask for it. It was fine I informed the cashier that I didn’t want bacon on it when he was told there was bacon on it. The manager was called to see what to do. He proceeded to yell at the kid with all the customers in the store when informed that it was not that big of a deal he told me that I was not his manager and were to stay out of it. That he was his employee and it was not my business. Not coming back again.

The manager is very nice they just need to do a better job at who they hire like other reviews mentioned they hire really young kids who do not know proper food handling. I did not have an issue with the manager it was this younger girl that I had an issue with. I am 5 months pregnant and I was craving a sandwich I asked the manager if he could cook the ham and he did but the girl was trying to give me un cooked ham not to mention the bread was already setting there when I got there and she put the uncooked ham on the bread I told her that he was cooking my ham and she put the ham back even though it touched the bread. She had no experience this is why food handlers is important. I told her that I wanted a new bread since she had already put the ham and she said oh you want a different kind of bread and I said no the manager stepped in and gave her instructions and she rolled her eyes at me and gave me attitude and threw the bread on the counter. Like that bread was already contaminated and not to mention she put the ham back too. It is a health risk for me and my child it was absolutely triggering.
