ATMOSPHERE:
I could smell the meats being grilled as I approached! The inside is small with just a few seats but more are available outside, shared with other businesses.
MENU:
Cold subs, cheese steaks, chicken cheese steaks, salads, cookies, brownies, catering.
FOOD:
Big Kahuna Cheese Steak
The regular size was a good 8″ long. The un-toasted white bread was amazingly soft and chewy, worlds better than Subway. The thinly-sliced meat was tender, seasoned and cooked perfectly. Toppings were grilled mushrooms, grilled onions, grilled red/green bells and melted white American cheese. I axed the jalapeños. Very tasty combination. Definitely get some chips to accompany.
Jersey Shore’s Favorite
Fast forward a few days and my spouse wanted to try this place so I got to try a cold sub. Having just two meats, ham and cappacuolo (similar in taste to prosciutto but is from the neck/shoulder of the pig) sounded minuscule but was actually very fulfilling. I got it “Mike’s Way” which includes onions that I nixed, lettuce, tomatoes, red wine vinegar, olive oil and spices (I think it was basil or oregano that was sprinkled on). I also added pickles and mayo. The way they poured on the vinegar and olive oil was like a floodgate opened. I thought for sure the bread would be soaked but thankfully it wasn’t. While it did make for an oily mess while handling the sandwich, I loved the flavor, which wasn’t overly vinegary either. Another yum’s up!
# 20 – Grilled Pastrami Reuben
My second hot sub was even better than the first! The pastrami was fresh and perfectly portioned to the super soft bread that was lathered with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing. My only mission is to find the right flavor of potato chips to go with this sucker. Highly recommended!
SERVICE:
Friendly and efficient.
TIP:
What sets these guys apart from say Subway, is that they slice their sandwich meats like a deli. They’re not prepackaged and sitting in deli tissue papers.
OVERALL:
Welcome to Maui, Jersey Mike’s! Nice addition to the central valley’s dining choices. Pricier but definitely worth it.
I think this is the best subway I have ever had. The portion is big and we share 1 sandwich for 2 of us and I feel full.
The veggies are fresh and the ham is plenty and delicious.
The manager is super friendly and fun.
If I’m paying $20 for a sandwich then damn it I want my sandwich right.
