What happened??
This was our first time to order from Jersey Mike’s.. but it won’t be the last. We ordered a Mike’s Famous Philly and a Bacon Ranch Chicken Cheese Steak Wrap. Neither disappointed. Lately we have ordered from another Sandwich shop and even paying for extra meat.. it is about a third of this. Definitely worth the cost!!
But last night was something different. Something special. Daveon, Max, and Jamar (Man, I hope I got their names right) made my “too tired to cook” dinner an “dinner experience.” First, the restaurant was clean, service was quick, and everyone looked like they were having a good time but also on task (as it should be).
Then we started talking about options – not as part of the order – but in the way people who love food talk about options. Everyone of us – my wife and I and the workers were all engaged saying “oh yeah, that’s sounds good.” And “Have you tried the spicy relish?” and “Man, the bacon here is great, I like that.” “Bro, I didnt know you could toast the bun too…”
Max was making a sandwich (that I think was her own dinner) and she made some choices that blew my mind and made me go “ooh. I want that!” Not only did my shift in order not bother them, but suddenly the whole crew was engaged in making me the perfect sandwich. It became a collaboration of creativity, taste, and the “joy of sandwich.” I’m not exactly sure why this moment we shared made my evening that much more special, but it did. It was unexpected and delightful.
At the end of the day, the food was good and all, and I really liked it. But it was your people – THESE specific people – that made me want to come back to Mike’s again.
To the management/owner/whatever of Jersey Mike’s in Atascocita (store #15172) – you likely know this, but it bears a mention – the success of your business isn’t only measured on the bottom line. In a time where the customer experience (CX) seems to be an after thought, good CX matters…but GREAT CX…well that’s a whole other conversation.
You have great employees (especially this crew). I believe teams typically reflect leadership so, good on you, but don’t take that for granted. You’d do well to incentivize these folks to not only stay, but share what they do and how they do it with all incoming new employees. Great job – we’ll definitely be back.
(*If you’re still reading: Hot honey sauce, spicy relish, toasted EVERYTHING and extra bacon…..you’re welcome)
Jan 2026 UPDATE: And they no longer honor the Atascocita HS sports booster coupon card. Used to be free chips & drink with sub purchase, now it’s free chips & drink with purchase regardless of how many subs you buy. SCAM!!!
Not to mention this place is just dirty now. The counter, grill everything. Never going back, ever!
