Came in to pick up an order, found out they gave it to someone else who took the food and cancelled so that they can get free food. Talked to one employee who was accommodating, wanted to make it right. She was willing to remake the small order after I talked to the customer. Out walks an angry “shift leader” who then told that employee she needs to refuse remaking it.
This person refused to even explain to me why she decided the customer should not be given their food. Instead she forced this person to cancel the order for a refund (which has a service fee) and reorder the same thing.
Whoever trained this “shift lead” needs to retrain them. First, it wasn’t my fault or the customer’s fault someone took their food. Second you should know by now there is a way to avoid drivers stealing a customers food. If you’re unwilling to spend a few minutes teaching them how to avoid this, this problem will NEVER go away.
I would have taught them how to do it, if that shift leader hadn’t acted that way. Instead the customer is forced to spend more money, or refuse to reorder altogether. It’s a shame how terrible customer service actually is now. Nearly every restaurant is like this now, which means instead of treating a customer well and absorbing the small food cost hit that you literally have a budget for, you turn them away.
I’ll never return to this restaurant personally. I don’t have time to waste on a “shift lead” who treats people like trash
