The guy in the picture keeps a positive attitude, as well as making bomb sandwiches. The whole staff deserves raises.
Thanks Allen!
Pick up orders sit on the counter next to the bag, not in the pick up window which really slows things down.
Currently wait of 10 people in pick up line. L One person at counter, who just walked in already placing his order…. While after collecting my one sub, I saw it was sitting ready wrapped on the counter just needed a bag and cup….
The other day the guy in front of me ordered a number 8 and I watched the guy the entire time make it not changing the slicer setting even once and I thought, “oh wow, nice thick slices of meat and cheese.” Then I got up there and ordered the same thing and immediately he’s reaching for the dial to change the slicer settings. I stopped him and asked him what he was doing. He said he had to change the slicer thickness for the cheese. I asked him if the guy before me ordered something special or had extra cheese and he said no. So I asked why he got thicker slices of cheese than me. He just gave me a look and rolled his eyes and cut the cheese the same as the previous customer. Then he grabs the turkey and I took my eye off him for a split second and he’s AGAIN reaching for the slicer dial.
At this point I’m just annoyed and told him, “we literally just had this conversation 20 seconds ago.” I asked him if the customer before me was a regular or if it was his friend or something. He said no. And I asked him, “then why are you being cheap with me?” He tries to say he’s not, this is the way the sandwich is supposed to be made.
It’s great that everything is sliced to order but there is zero consistency between Jersey Mike’s locations. This isn’t the first JM location I’ve had this issue with. There needs to be a standardization of portion sizes because it seems like the person making the sub does whatever the heck they want based on who knows what criteria.
Edit: on November 29, 2025 I go in to order a BLT for my son. I get a BLT at this same location at least once a week. They always give 10 slices of bacon on it. Today the guy barely puts any bacon on at all. I tell him he’s “a little light” with the bacon and he gives me a look and says it’s six slices. Even if that is the proper amount he’s counting half piece broken slices as “full” slices. I told him if that’s the way he was going to make it then I didn’t want it. The manager then came over and I told him I’m in there every week to get a BLT and every time they load it up with 10 slices of bacon. He says that it depends on who’s making the sub and that some employees will give me, but that it is supposed to be made with 6 slices. I told him to just keep it consistent. If it’s supposed to be 6 then make it 6 every time. But if I come in on Tuesday and get 10 slices but then come in on Saturday and get 6 slices (two of which are half slices anyway so really just 5 slices) then I’m going to feel like I’m being short changed. He did put 10 slices of bacon on, and he didn’t seem upset about my complaint. In fact, he took it in stride which I appreciated. But seriously, JM needs to learn consistency. You’re not doing any favors when each employee decides how much food each customer is going to get.
Convenience? Great.
Employees? Great.
No sesame seeds? Love it.
It’s a sub shop not fine dining, but the crew still made me feel like a VIP.
