Went here on a weekend, small place but no one was there. The burger was delicious! Definitely tasted grass fed, good beef. They have some competitions going on for fastest eater…! They had a cool little table game with strings and hooks while you wait. The person working there was very friendly. Will definitely eat another burger from here again. Nutley never disappoints!

I walked in and I believe I spoke to the owner and I assume one of the chefs. I told them it was my first time and I wanted what ever he recommends. Served me the bacon me crazy. I asked for the jersey fries and a root beer. He gave me a side of macaroni salad on the house while I wait.
First of all the service and friendliness is top notch. Nice and calm atmosphere. The burger was amazing. I’ve heard of bacon jam and this burger had and it was phenomenal such an amazing taste. The fries are fresh cut style. The macaroni salad had a nice tangy taste to it and of course root beer never disappoints.
Can’t wait to go back !

If i could give a place negative reviews i would, this “sandwich” was the worst ive eaten in my entire life, i cant believe this place is rated so highly, absolutely ridiculous!!!!! Like how is it possible for a chicken cutlet to have more breading then chicken, if i wanted a veggie sandwich i would have ordered one, and the color of this “chicken” looks disturbing and weird. Biggest waste of 20$ in my life

If you’re in the mood for a unique and delicious sandwich, you’ve got to check out Spanky’s in Nutley. I had the Cluck Norris chicken sandwich, which comes with roasted red peppers, mozzarella, and fig jam. I asked for it without arugula and swapped the grilled chicken for a crispy chicken cutlet, and it was absolutely amazing. The combination of flavors was spot-on, with the sweetness of the fig jam complementing the savory chicken and roasted peppers perfectly.
The real surprise of the visit came when the owner, Spanky, insisted we try one of his famous hot dogs. He asked if I liked bacon, and when I told him not so much, he went to the back and came out with a Dirty Skirt hot dog—no bacon, but with bacon jam which tasted wonderful!. It was so good, I wasn’t expecting it to be that great, but I’ll definitely be back for another one next time!
We also had some crispy fries, served with a special sauce on the side that reminded me of McDonald’s Big Mac sauce—so good!
Spanky was a great host and chatted with us while we waited for our food, adding to the whole enjoyable experience. The shop is easy to find with convenient street parking right on Main St., so no hassle getting there.
One small suggestion for Spanky’s would be to see a selection of bottled drinks other than bottled water and fountain sodas only. It’d be great to have more variety to pair with those fantastic sandwiches and hot dogs. Also, while the laid-back vibe is nice, it was a little quiet in there, so maybe a TV or some background music could add a bit more to the atmosphere. That being said, these are just small tweaks—everything else was fantastic, and I’ll definitely be back!
Next time, I’m going to try one of their burgers—just not sure which one yet, because they all look incredible! Highly recommend checking out Spanky’s if you’re in the area.

This is a true hidden gem and Nutley is so lucky to have it! The service and staff is very friendly and super nice. The food is a reasonable price and their award winning burger is worth it. It was our first time and they even threw in a basket of fries on the house! I will be back to try other menu items.

Ok full disclosure if you want a $5 burger or Hotdog take yourself to Burger King. This place takes simple foods and elevates them to a high level. I could taste the quality and the thought in every bite and that Bacon Jam ! Give me that in a jar with a fork. I can’t wait till they sell it I’ll be there weekly! That’s the food!
Now this is a family business watching his kids behind the counter doing homework while I sat there with mine enjoying our meal. Shows why he does what he does. This place is a must stop location! I would share a picture of the food but ♂️ too late so come see it for yourselves.

I don’t leave reviews often, but I believe if a location goes above and beyond expectations, its unfair to not leave a good review. Going here for the first time with my grandmother and the service was excellent- the staff was friendly, talkative, as well as helpful and extremely patient. The meal (bacon me crazy burger & cheesesteak sandwich with fries) was furthermore phenomenal. All around a great experience.
