We visited this restaurant because we wanted to support a local black owned restaurant.
Pros: This atmosphere of the restaurant has authentic Jamaican vibes. Food was on point. Menu selection was good. Bathroom was really clean. Price point for dinner was about what you would expect in this day and age. They do have lunch specials that are less expensive.
Oxtail – 5 stars! It was on point!!!
Cons: we didn’t really get a warm greeting from the first waitress we had; it’s almost as though they are more used to carryout because it took her awhile to even bring us a menu or table settings. The second waitress was much friendlier and helpful
Spice level- I hesitate to list this because I know Jamaican level spice is different than American spice but even with that said I asked whether stuff was spicy before ordering it, especially after the first thing I ordered for my 10 year old was too spicy and even the salmon burger came out spicy after they told me it wasn’t. Again, I don’t personally mind spice but just be aware that most of the stuff we ordered was spicy, even when they said it wasn’t.
Mac-n-cheese – it looked good but after tasting it, it was a 1star. Even my toddler wouldn’t eat it and it was on the cold side. It needs work.
Overall we will def be back for the oxtail and try some other things on the menu.

OUTSTANDING!!! The Rasta Pasta Rum Punch and Curry Chicken Pineapples Ginger Beer. Beef Pattie’s Authentic hot food with great prices and satisfying. Skip the fast food and come get some real food. Very clean with comfortable seating with music. This place is perfect for birthday or event. You will not be disappointed. The staff is so professional and knowledgeable about the menu The portions were definitely giving you the value for the money spent. You just can’t beat the by scratch freshness with flavorful veggies and seafood and with the SMOKED flavors. Thank you Myesha for the great service and delicious drink! This place is one of best restaurant in Frederick hands down.

First of all, they had braised oxtail and the customer service is really great! The ambiance is really chill and relaxed, and the decor passes the vibe check! Ordered dinner to go but will definitely stop by for a dine-in experience! The food is really good. The curry and the braised oxtail were chef’s kiss! I will definitely be back. The Jerk Chicken was definitely one for the books! Thank you!

Great option for dinner. A little expensive for a lunch meal. The lunch special was $16 for the curry chicken,roasted vegetables,rice and beans which is a little higher than most lunch specials. The curry chicken meal was absolutely delicious and could have easily fed 2 people! The only reason I couldn’t give this location all 5 is because it wouldn’t necessarily be a regular option for a family of 4 or more.

We stopped into this restaurant which is located in a nondescript shopping strip. We tried the chicken soup, oxtail, jerk pork, and curry goat and were blown away by how good the food is. Authentic Jamaican food. You could tell everything was made with quality ingredients and was well prepared. We also tried the sorrel, it was my first time trying it and it was delicious! We dined in and the staff were so kind and provided such great service. The chef also stopped by to check on us and learned he is well trained chef from NYC. We could tell he is passionate about the food he serves. Thank you Chef Richard for bringing this awesome food to Frederick!

They start you off with a warm piece of cornbread and it is DELICIOUS!! We ordered spicy beef patties and jerk chicken with cabbage and rice and peas. All the flavors were amazing, the portions were huge and the customer service was top notch! The owner came out to see how we were doing and we told him the place was amazing and the corn bread was REALLY good. Come check them out if you are around, you won’t regret it!

Dined in with my girlfriend and enjoyed everything! Jerk Chicken meal with 2 sides and she had Brown Stewed Chicken meal with 2 sides and each had a beef pattie with cream soda. Our meals were nicely plated and very good portions! Will come back again!

If I could give this restaurant 20/10, I definitely would! It’s a family restaurant and I personally know the owner to whom he is family to me, I went there the first time today and I had their Jerk Pork with plantains, rice and peas and fried dumplings and cleansed my palate with a Jamaican Kola Champagne soda! The food was fabulous! Their saltfish (codfish) fritters were so good, I had to take an order for the road with me and my wife. She had oxtails with steamed veggies and Mac and cheese and she enjoyed it. Even when I stepped out a guy asked me if the food was good and I told him to go in and give it a try, he will not be disappointed! Will I drive an hour just to eat good food and support family business? Absolutely! They’ll be seeing myself and my family there again in the near future!

The restaurant is nice, clean and minimalist. I got the curry chicken as a lunch special. It was flavorful and similar to most curry. The rice was soaked so a bit mushy. It might be better if they didn’t try to cramp everything into one takeout container. Nevertheless it was a nice and quick option for lunch.

Update – closed now, not surprised, can’t imagine why they thought this would work, no unique angle, not high standards, weird location, feels like a place started with mommy/Daddy money. They tried to recover after a bad start, hopefully a learning opportunity
Update – after a poor first visit gave it another try, restaurant has been renovated, had the lunch special jerk wrap, was excellent…I mean really good, and only $10 with fries. Staff were v nice, kitchen and dining areas v clean, music wasn’t over loud. What a turnaround….so deserves an improved review.
Jam-meh-can, first visit, really sub par vs the other Frederick Jamaican place on east, st. Herb potatoes were raw, yes raw, dumplings we’re not dumplings but fried dough balls, jerk chicken was good but not sure it is any better than store bought sauce, took an age for food to arrive, place played reggae at 9000 decibels, I try and support local businesses but this food is loveless.
