This is a nice place to stop, we got there right at sunset and the scenery over the lake to the east was amazing! Had the Ouray Burger, it was delicious and the bottomless fries were a nice touch (BTW the fries are fresh sliced and cooked in house, no frozen stuff like most places, did I mention their bottomless?!)! This place has a much more home style cooked meal feel than most places, but don’t let that persuade you into thinking the food was mediocre, it was not! The food was amazing and so was the service. My wife had the Bacon Jalapeno Popper Burger, and after a taste of that, I’d say it was the one to get! I’ve never had a burger with quite that flavor and it beats every other place I’ve bought a burger from. I would highly recommend getting desert too, you’ll think you’re too full…you’re not! Whatever their house made desert is, you’ll be glad you made the sacrifice to fit it. Ours was chocolate cake made fresh that day and it was a fantasitc finish to a wonderful meal.

Absolutely loved this place. The food came out hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. You can tell they use quality ingredients and actually care about how everything tastes, not just how it looks. The portions were solid for the price, and everything was seasoned perfectly. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was chill and comfortable. Definitely a spot I’d come back to and recommend to anyone looking for good food that doesn’t disappoint.

A quiet restaurant with good food, delicious cinnamon rolls, a beautiful view of Pelican Lake and good food, good service. Rebeca the waitress is friendly and attentive.

After lunch, 40 minutes away is Fantasy Canyon Vernal.

Great food! The jalapeno burger is amazing! Not too spicy, just the right amount to be about flavor heat.

Food was ok, maybe if we had chosen something else…but the pot roast was sliced deli meat. The jalapeno potatoes were good..maybe a burger there would be a better choice. The people were great! It’s the only thing for miles and you can have a lake view. They close early at least in January.

From the moment we arrived at Jensen’s Hitchin Post, we were swarmed by flies. It was bad enough that we had to move tables twice just to try and escape them. Things went from unpleasant to downright disgusting when one member of our party found a dead fly floating in their coffee. On closer inspection, the sugar shaker it came from had several dead flies inside. All we got in response was an apology and a fresh cup of coffee, which we still had to pay for.

To be fair, the food itself was pretty good, but by that point we were all feeling too disgusted to enjoy it. The waitress was friendly, but the situation was handled with nothing more than an apology. We couldn’t wait to leave and we certainly won’t be going back. What was supposed to be a nice working lunch turned into a stomach-turning disaster that could have been avoided with something as simple as investing in some fly paper!
