It’s not the best Dominican spot I’ve been to but it’s not bad. Place inside is narrow but enough seating for maybe 10 people. Options were limited or at least there wasn’t much to choose from compared to other spots so I just got the Chicken Stew w/ Yellow Rice and Red Beans. It was a bit on the salty side but it was edible. The one good plus is that the food is reasonably priced. What I got plus a soda came up to $12 so for what it’s worth, it’s a solid cheap eat area.

The purpose of this review is not to hate or harm this restaurant in any way, shape, or form. That being said, I hope you take this review as an informative review.
Atmosphere: The moment you enter this restaurant, you will immediately feel the Latino vibes. I mean, most of their customers are Latinos. You may feel a bit uncomfortable if you have not surrounded yourself with the Latino community. However, do not panic. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming when the restaurant is not too busy. If you get there when it’s busy, it can be uncomfortable to move around.
Service: I have been there twice. If I’m around the area, I will go there again without a problem. You can see the guys taking your order are hard-working people. They are respectful, welcoming, and pay attention to detail. I appreciate them making my saland at that very moment and not picking already chopped vegetables. Make sure to kindly tell them your desired portions of what you’re getting. As Latinos, they tend to give you a portion that is considered normal for them. I mean, their portion of rice is normal, compared with other Dominican restaurants that will give you much more . At busy times, they’ll try to take your order asap because they have other people to take care of. So, don’t feel like you’re being rushed. It is just the way most restaurants function when they are packed with customers.
Food: Nothing to complain about so far. I mean, I can only speak about the goat stew and the chicken stew, which are the dishes I have had. They were pretty good, a little better than other Dominican restaurants I have been to. I will be trying something else next time.
Prices: Prices are good, considering the portions you get. Not to mention that flavors are also there.

This place is the worst Dominican restaurant in NYC. They don’t not wash the chicken (especially in the stew chicken). It tastes like boiled chicken with sazon thrown on top. No depth of flavor or anything. The staff is rude to anyone who is not of Hispanic heritage. Racist. They treat every customer’s request as if it’s problematic or impossible. No consistent pricing either. They charge you whatever and whenever. Please save your stomach acid and head to the Bronx if you want some decent Spanish food. I’ve had this place numerous times in a pinch but I rather just go home and cook.

I’m giving 5 stars because of consistency: Over 22 years of coming here and I never leave disappointed. I don’t live in Queens anymore but I’m often traveling out here to visit family, so when I’m in the mood for a filling tasteful meal, Jennifer’s is always an option. And to order pepper steak, yellow rice w/ gandules, red onion, sweet plantain, extra gravy & green hot sauce all for $10 is unbeatable (even if you have a stick). I gladly tipped $2. The chicken soup is really good too. If you get a large ($12) which comes with a small white rice, it’s almost a meal by itself. As for atmosphere, it’s all about food at Jennifer’s so you won’t get ambience; what you get is tight quarters (if there’s eight people inside, it’s cramped and challenging to navigate. There’s also a lot of online order pickups. Jennifer’s is the kind of spot where you have to speak up and act like a local, not a tourist. Staff is extremely friendly. I was surprised when the guy who took my order remembered me ordering a week ago. There is a small counter area with about five barstools, if you want to eat right away. Getting a seat to eat is luck of the draw and since it can get busy, the plates from previous customers may not get removed right away, same for counter and floor. The reason I don’t factor this into rating is because eat in customers are not the target audience. It’s intended to be standing room only, cop & go. Again, it’s the consistency for me—Jennifer’s has delivered good food and great prices for AT LEAST two decades plus and that is deserving of an overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating, even if there are some individual areas that aren’t perfect.

Small place to eat in. But the food is just as tasty as I remember. I found this place when I was in High School over 25 years ago. Stopped by yesterday & it was filling and delicious. Had the White Rice & Beans, Onions, and Pernil (Roast Pork) make sure you ask for extra gravy and that green sauce, I also bought a Avocado to add on top.

Very Racist!!! If you’re black they do not want your money!! I walked in and asked for beef stew in their smallest container. The man in a green shirt and red hat showed me the container and said if I get just the beef stew in that containers it’s gonna be $15. I politely walked out because I was not born yesterday walked across the street to the Spanish bakery and still got the same container filled with beef, pork and rice for $6!!Go to the bakery across the street they are nicer and RESPECTFUL OF EVERYONE!

Second time i’ve been here to try the beef empanadas and the lady tells me that they don’t have them. I even asked if they can make a new batch and they said no. Why put it on the menu if you never have them? Why can’t you make them fresh?

Their food tastes as good as it looks and they have been consistent for 10 years straight since high school. They never miss a beat. Great customer service, delicious food and unbeatable prices. They have the most authentic RD food. Especially Mondays and Thursdays when they make sancocho. Best sancocho I’ve ever had since back in Hato Mayor.
