Folksy downhome cooking as we say around here. The food is typical of southern style food. You get a choice of a meat and two vegetables. This place is busy at lunchtime time as all of the local pour in to eat. Food is served hot and quickly.
If you want something quick to eat and you don’t want your typical fast food hamburger place, this Macon institution might be your ticket.

GREAT FOOD ONLY WHEN IT’S HOT. My wife and I were there Thursday 8/11/25 at 6:10pm. Biscuits and Corn Hoe Cakes were like left over from lunch and cold. Rice cold but gravey was warm. Fried okra was cold. Chicken livers were luke warm. That is fine for TOGO orders where you can reheat the cold food, but when you go to a resturant you should be server hot food. I know restuarants are in tuff times but serving COLD FOOD isn’t the way to make your Business Grow.

solid country cooking; however, they dont serve portions like you work on a logging crew. 60 is young for the patrons….. i eat there several times per month.

If I was making a short list of the top 3 country food places in Macon, Jeneane’s would make the list. Not as number 1 and not 2, but in the top 3 for sure. My last few visits haven’t been the best experience. This particular time the floor and tables were pretty trashed and our server seemed like he didn’t really want to be there. Our glasses where placed heavily on the table and the straws where just thrown down. I thought, hmmm maybe he just dropped them. But then the wet bread plates where thrown on the table along with our bread. But no, really, loud clatter thrown on the table. And who doesn’t enjoy a nice wet plate to set your biscuit on? But other than that, the food was ok.

We went out of our way to try Jeneane’s. There aren’t any meat & veggie restaurants in Atlanta. We were happy we made the effort (it’s really a short detour). We’d all go back again.

Probably second best in Macon next to Bears Den. Has good food but servings seem a little slack for the average male. Hate it because they stopped serving the coconut pie.

This is a solid choice of a restaurant. Fast, inexpensive and delicious southern cooked meals. We can’t believe we only just discovered this Macon restaurant tradition. Great for large groups. Service could have been a little more professional but no big complaints. We will definitely be back when we are in town.

Jan 26, 2024: Upgraded to 4 stars, recent meals have been more generous in their portions. Keep up the good work.
October update, I HAVE NOW RESORTED TO ORDERING 2 take-out MEALS for just MYSELF. The pictures in my review are dine-in and reflect nice portions, so maybe plan to eat at the restaurant. An option may be to get extra vegetables and a dessert, but the price will be about the same, $12 each meal (1 meat, 2 vegetables, and bread…. without the drink, desert, and tip.
Prior info:
Downgraded to 3 stars due to skimpy portions, two recent instances of replacement meals, and take-out blunders like failing to include my potato salad last evening. I hope to update this review soon after a few good experiences, but one of my family members is aggravated as well. I hope this will change soon. Previously at 5 stars, downgraded 2 months ago to 4 stars, and downgraded this date for omission and overcooking the livers again. If it is as black as charcoal, adjust the frying time please!
black-eyed peas. My prior favorite meats have been fried chicken livers, meatloaf, and fried pork chop(1).

Very popular for eat in or take out. Good southern food. Corn flaps are good. Best chicken livers & baked chicken w/ dressing & gravy.

The service is amazing and friendly. Nice lunch experience; but service and solid home style food set it apart from others. Worth a stop if meat and 2 sides is what you’re looking for.
