Second time eating here. Customer service is amazing. Food is very delicious. You definitely get your moneys worth. The cakes are also fresh, moist and delicious. I will definitely be back next week. Until then, thank you for all the hard work that it takes to put into making delicious food.

Take a plate has no customer service skills what so ever. I called to place a call in order. I was placed on hold for 21 mins. No one ever took my order. I also called on a separate phone 9 times. It went straight to voicemail. We do not want to work or have accountability. Please we have to do better!

While Door dashing I stopped in to pick up a customers order. I walked in and it smelled amazing. I could smells the greens and I got some to try. They were absolutely amazing 10 out of 10. Seasoned to perfection. Needless to say I will be coming back to try more menu items. Thanks for the collards

The collards were the best thing on my plate, the Turkey Wings were ok, but the Mac wasn’t edible for me. For one it was sitting in grease, noodles were over cooked, just tasted to mushy and wasn’t really cheesy even though it looked cheesy,also don’t think it was cooked same day but reheated probably. And the cornbread was ice cold and kinda dense that’s only way i can describe it. Don’t get me wrong, everything else was decent and I’ll try other items

Everything was pretty good! I had the Pork Chop Sandwich, Whiting Fish Sandwich, and Chicken Wings (4 Pieces). The sandwiches were pretty good and hearty, the cabbage collard mix balanced out bc the greens flavored the cabbage but l added a little sugar, the macaroni was definitely from yesterday’s service but still good lol overall l give it 4.3/5 & l would try it again!

The smothered pork chops were good just a little salty 8/10 but the Mac and Cheese and Candy Yams were amazing 10/10. The liver is 10/10 and is very delicious as well.

I’m visiting from NC and wanted some soul food. This place was suggested, and the food was fresh and seasoned very well. Customer service was good. You get your money worth if I am ever in the area. I will be stopping by.

Hmm. Not sure about this one. $9.50 for lunch (one entree, one side)… The food wasn’t bad at all. Admittedly, I thought I played it safe. I ordered meatloaf and cabbage, and tried the bread pudding. It weird when places show you the food before they bag it up lol. Like, if you’re dissatisfied they can use that against you, “you approved of it when they showed it to you”. I mean, maybe they should look at it themselves and determine if it’s up to their standards or not, if they have any, that is. But I digress lol.
The meatloaf portion wasn’t impressive for what it is and it didn’t seem homemade. It had the consistency of a processed meatloaf you’d buy from a store or wholesale club. (Mushroom?) gravy was good but again I think it was homemade. Who am I to think homemade soul food exists anymore lol? It’s hard to screw up cabbage so it was good. The cornbread was a nice size. It’s of the jiffy+mayo recipe I believe. Bread pudding was good. It was day-old cold (refrigerated).

1/3/2025 picked up 2 wing dinners on the way home. Chicken was as old as I am.They stated they were just reopening from the holidays. The only sides they had was rice and mac and cheese. The chicken looked and taste like they froze it from Christmas and re dropped it in oil.It was so nasty we ended up throwing it in the trash.We live in Suffolk but work in Portsmouth. If we still lived in Portsmouth we would have definitely returned it. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE GO TO TAKE A PLATE. Very disappointing they definitely lost OUR BUSINESS.
