I’ve been there many, many times in the past fifteen years.
They had never, never disappointed me ever, ever before. I’ve always been impressed with the food and the service and the smooth organization of their teamwork and the way their employees used to work together – they were so well trained. That was then and obviously those days are long gone.
Today everything went wrong. My food was cold, it was late – they served every walk-in customer before me even though my order was tiny and I was a walk-in, they served continuous pick-up customers while I waited for my so-called ‘ten minute’ order. The food when I finally got it was cold and in a damaged container even though I wanted take out and had let them know I had a long drive (which they ignored). They must have served at least ten other customers who had arrived after me, after I had placed my order. I would not be surprised if they had already made my sandwich and just left it ready sitting there in their kitchen, getting cold, for fifteen minutes while I was sitting out there on the busy sidewalk.
When I asked for kosher tape, they had no idea what I was talking about, and the sandwich box was disintegrating, so I asked them please could I have a rubber band or kosher tape around it. The put three inches of tape on the TOP of the box, not even sealing it not the proper way which should be to seal the box all around in at least one LOOP of tape or more.
By the time I got home (they took well over 20 minutes while I was waiting out on the sidewalk.) The food was already cold when they handed to me and it was ice cold by the time I made it through the rush hour traffic which might have only been an hour drive but due to them having me wait so long it was ninety minutes.
Seriously the food there has always been priced high but they certainly used to make up for it with the extra-friendly service and the great dining atmosphere (back then it was inside). The food quality was always top notch. Just so sad and pathetic to see how this place has deteriorated.
For the price they charged – no sides, no napkin, no kosher tape, bag was not sealed & not insulated either (even after I told them I had a long drive), I was handed a cold sandwich in a torn container, no napkins, and the staff was not respectful and not interested. The bun was also stale and the hamburger patty was not an $18 size that I would have expected (which is what they charge). Really Jeff’s?? Give me a break you could not afford to put fresh buns out and a generous amount of meat in your burgers?? And at least give the customers napkins with a take out order?
At these prices, I am never going back again. Across the street for ten dollars less you get a better sandwich with two sides and respect from the staff. I would like to give them another chance but at those prices there is no way, it’s too insulting.
I even saw the owner there for about two seconds and giving me a sort of frightened look as if he could see by the serious look on my face (the tiny sandwich had been taking forever for them to make – it should have taken them five seconds) that this review might be the result. Just ridiculous. Even after the owner showed up, I was still waiting at least another ten minutes – he disappeared FAST, no hello, not even an acknowledgement that I was just standing there in front of him.
It’s sad to see that a place like this that used to have been run so well has come to this. So pathetic.
If you’re seeking an exceptional kosher culinary adventure, look no further than Jeff’s Gourmet – it’s a foodie’s paradise!
Food is amazing! I do wish we got utensils with the dishes and sadly they forgot my mustard on the side. Never the less truly tasty and delicious. Will definitely go back when we are back in LA.
I don’t know if it’s an evening thing or just how they work, but it wasn’t a true sit down restaurant. I picked up my food in the evening, they had some tables outside for people to sit, but didn’t seem to have people come in, they brought the food out to me.
