Welll, after driving by 4 times debating on stopping because of the good reviews or passing because of the lack of cars in the drive … ( I should have passed )

walking in, the decor is awesome .. had high hopes .

greeted happily and found us a seat ..

waitress was prompt professional and friendly.. took our drink order ( water tea with lemon) No lemons today

was going to order the lunch special at 12:00 ( but it was unavailable ) so we opted for:

chicken/rib combo with green bean and cole slaws ( i’m not a smoke chicken guy because almost no once can smoke chicken and keep it moist ) this was no difference .

Wife
chicken was dry and lacking seasoning for my taste. Ribs ? tender but flavorless .. I hate to have to dip ribs in bbq sauce 🙁

green beans good !
cole slaw bland !

i’m sure someone likes all of this, but it’s not my favorite and hard to compare to Texas BBQ ( West Texas )

Mine
Ribs and Brisket
You know how the ribs were, Brisket was edible if dipped in sauce, again a bit dry and flavorless for my taste
Bake Beans good
Loaded Potato Salad good

I wish they quiz have served a roll
or bread with the meal ( advertising on the big screens showed a good looking roll but I guess it’s not included )

Also wish they would have included pickles and onions or a jalapeño .. but no luck

Just a bit disappointed in our food, but again, it’s just my taste .. don’t be shy to give it a try I think the chop beef sandwich would probably be good !

( Redbird BBQ in Groves, Texas has us spoiled !

Jeanne’s Bourbon Street BBQ was somewhere we decided to try out on a recent Lake Charles excursion. There’s definitely a distinctly blue collar vibe when you walk into this restaurant at lunch on a weekday but other than a few bemused looks from the clientele, the visit was a positive one. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. The interior is decorated in memorabilia from Winchester (the rifle company). It could almost double as a museum with all of the neat stuff they had on the walls. I don’t know what the connection to them and the restaurant is but I thought it gave the place a really cool and distinctive personality.

The food was somewhat hit or miss. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and felt it to be out of this world. The pork was rich and tender and melted in my mouth. The buns were overloaded and I couldn’t keep all the pork on the sandwich but I certainly wasn’t complaining. My wife ordered the BBQ chicken and unfortunately didn’t have as good of an experience. The chicken was a good portion but was overcooked and was dried out as a result. The skin was too crispy (almost burned) to be enjoyable. And the green beans just didn’t cut it (no pun intended). The banana pudding she ordered for dessert, however, was fantastic.

That said, I enjoyed the place overall and would definitely come back.

The food was good. The service was good. Unfortunately, didn’t have a bartender this night. The server stepped it up and she did what she could. I commend her for taking on the extra workload.
The Winchester memorabilia is amazing. It was one of the best collections I have ever seen.
It is well worth stopping in. This is 5 stars all the way.
Do yourself a favor and stop in.

So we were looking for a nice BBQ spot and boy were we in for a treat today. After searching google we find Jeanne’s BBQ. We check the menu and pricing and everything was amazing until we show up and pick up our order. They told us over the phone that the order would be ready in a few minutes we asked for a specific time and they responded “not long”. After a 15 minute drive we arrive and the nachos are not ready. Along with that the pricing was way off of what we expected.

Website Menu and Google Menu pricing.
—————————————————————————
$14.99 -brisket & rib combo
$10.99 -full order of beef brisket nachos.
$8.99 -1/2 order of beef brisket nachos.

Total of $34.97 without tax.
—————————————————————————

What we paid:

Actual Payment Transaction
———————————————
$18 -brisket & rib combo
$18 -full order of beef brisket nachos.
$12 -1/2 order of beef brisket nachos.
4% -charge for using credit card

Total of $48 without tax or 4% charge
Total of $58.44 with tax and 4% charge
—————————————————————————

So first I would like to ask, how did a rib/brisket meal go up $3 and brisket nachos go up $7 making both meals $18 each? And the half order of nachos only went up $3? We felt as if we truly got the short end of the stick here, as the pricing did not make any sense. Also the cashier was well aware of the menu not being updated on the website claiming “they really need to update the menu, because we were not the first to bring this up.” Regardless we paid the bill and headed home.

The food:

First off before I started to dig in I was scared to bite into the brisket and bite into a chunk of gold for what we just paid. But no gold I’m fine.

The brisket was delicious, tender, and the best part of the meal.

The ribs were dry and mediocre.

The mac and beans were good.

The chips and queso in the nachos were the ordinary Sams Club nacho pack you get for a birthday party. Also for the price increase you would think they would not be so greedy with the toppings.

Horrible experience, nasty secret pricing that they ARE aware of. Not coming back.

We always get the sampler. We are two adults and a child. We always have half of our food leftover. Four adults could easily eat off of this. The wait staff has always been super attentive and friendly.

The sampler has brisket, chicken, sausage, pulled pork, ribs, and two sides.

Horrible. Don’t waste your money. Ribs full of gristle and mushy. Nachos were basically plain as hell like a high-school basketball game concession stand. Pulled pork sandwich boring. Only bbq sauce they have is basically baby rays. They should be ashamed to call themselves a BBQ restaurant.

This is our go to place for brisket nachos and their sandwich!

The dining area is fairly large with big and smaller tables- no booths. There is bar seating. They accept to go orders.

Staff is friendly and attentive. They want you to have a good experience. The owner is usually there and has spoke with us on multiple occasions.

Their brisket nachos can be ordered as a full or half order. They also have ribs, pulled pork, chicken, sausage and daily specials.

Absolutely loved this place. I remember they were selling food out of a food truck for years and now they have their own restaurant. Every single item was amazing. Although my dog growled & barked at the owner he insisted that he give my dog a piece of brisket. Now they’re BFF’s.
