We had the 18″ Thin and Crispy pie and it was delicious. The service was timely and the staff spoke clear English.

JC’s New York Pizza Department offers fantastic pizza! An 18” thin crust, half pepperoni and green chile and half Canadian bacon and pineapple, was absolutely delicious. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. Highly recommended for authentic New York-style pizza in Albuquerque!

What happened to JC’s? Once my favorite pizza in ABQ, (I’m from Philly). Picked up a large pie tonight, excited for a nice treat to only be disappointed. Almost no sauce very little cheese and what was there was dried out overcooked. Usually there is grease running off my hands and face. This pizza almost inedible. What a shame! On a positive note, the pepperoni was still great!

Stopped by here for a quick slice in the late evening. It was my first time visiting here so wasn’t sure what to expect. The bartender was polite, she let me know about the daily special which included two slices of cheese pizza and a drink for $8.50. I added toppings to both at 0.65 cents a topping and subbed a beer which ended up bringing the total to around $13 -ish. Pretty good deal. The service overall was great, even late at night just before closing time and the slices were made to perfection. Couldn’t have asked for anything better to be honest. So I’ll be sure to keep coming back!!

Busted booths- Soggy pizza slices- ravioli drowning in so much sauce they had to be “fished” out, and service from every single employee like it was an inconvienience that we were there! One of the kitchen staff that delivered our food literally tossed the food infront of us.
Nothing about this place was reminicent of a NY slice! Only good thing about the place was the “good ice”, need I say more? I know this spot has been around for years, and from what i remember, used to be great, but with all the other choices on the market today, they need to step up their game, especially in service! “Miss thiss”, super disapointed.

Not New York Pizza by Any Stretch

Having lived in New York (Brooklyn) for an extensive period of time, I can say with confidence that this place is far from authentic NY pizza or even the lower end of it. The 18″ “thin crust” I ordered could easily qualify as Chicago style it was thick, super doughy, and slightly undercooked. Honestly, it reminded me more of a major frozen brand than anything freshly made.

With food prices climbing higher every day, sometimes after a 16-hour shift I just want to come home to a nice treat. Something comforting, familiar, and worth the small splurge. Instead, I ended up disappointed, wishing I’d just made something simple at home. For a place calling itself New York Pizza Department, I expected a lot more authenticity and care. Especially for the 44 bucks spent.

Is it really so difficult to ask for quality and honesty?

On another note. Although the location is only about three miles away, my order arrived by bicycle cold. The delivery courier was kind and polite, but the delivery took far longer than it should have, in my opinion.

…..at least the ranch dressing was acceptable.

Best pizza in albuquerque! The dough is perfect texture and taste. Toppings are always cooked just right. The pretzel is about 10″ big.

Ordered online and it was ready fast. Food tasted great. Extremely happy with everything and will likely be a repeat customer.

Service was alright, it’s probably more of a staffing issue than anything. There was only one guy for the entire restaurant, so service was slow; and no checkins.

Tip: the family salad is the exact same size as the personal salad but is 3 dollars more

We had the Manhattan and it was good, quality-ish ingredients; but came together well.

Not bad, not great; pizza is clearly what they are good at, not service or over all experience.

Sad and disappointing. For my daughter, I specifically ordered just olive oil and cheese, no garlic or sauce or anything else. It seemed like they just re-heated a pre-made cheese pizza (with sauce) and served it. My slice with olives and mushrooms was clearly also the exact same cheese pizza but with toppings thrown on after the fact. The olive oil was included, but in a container by itself, not on the pizza in place of red sauce. They were perfectly nice people, but asking for clarification on our order would have been helpful. Side note, my partner is a NY native and says this restaurant owner has never been to NY.
