Delicious food! The atmosphere was typical of authentic Mexican restaurants. We ordered pancakes, waffles, crepes and quesadillas and everything was amazing!

Amazing street tacos!! I had one of each of the carne asada, chorizo, chicken and al pastor. I am in heaven!! The hot sauces were great as well. Our server was sweet and the food came quickly
We happened upon it while picking up my dad from the airport. This is a must try if you love authentic mexican food!

Jaxel’s Cafe is a hidden gem! The carne asada was cooked perfectly, and the fresh-made salsa had a great spicy kick. The guacamole was spot on, and the chips were freshly fried and crispy. The flan was rich and delicious. Unassuming outside, but the food inside is seriously next level!

The best plate of food I’ve had in St Louis. Delicious plates of traditional Mexican food along with American style pancakes and waffles. Tortillas are hand made and the salsa is made with love. Every bite was delicious, fast service from a lovely and kind lady. Great prices.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I remember when it used to be a Del taco! Anyway, the outside of the building leaves A LOT to be desired. It looks empty – you can’t even really tell that it is a functioning business. The only reason I knew they were open is because I Googled ‘restaurants in the area’ and it popped up. Anyway, the long and short of it is, I ordered two Californian steak burritos (chicken or steak was the same price) to go, which were really delicious and filling. The downside is that they totaled $35!!! I didn’t order anything else at all because, with drinks, I would be heading north of $40 for lunch in a ‘hole in the wall’. I’m not disparaging the restaurant because it was very neat and clean but, I just didn’t expect to pay so much considering the location and surroundings. Anyway, the food was really good but I’m not sure I’d return as $35 for two burritos is way too steep for me.

Im hoping this helps to improve this restaurant, as I’m always for supporting my people. I ordered a breakfast burrito. On Google this burrito is only $4.99. Just eggs onions, tomato, and avocado. I did ask for spinach to be added, and although the posted menu states avocado is included, I was charged for the avocado. This seemed pretty small for an authentic Mexican burrito. Even smaller for it to cost $17 (a LONG way from $4.99) It didn’t even fill the container. The vegetables I paid extra to have didn’t appear until midway through and disappeared before I reached the end. The veggies to egg ratio was off as I had more tomato and onion than egg. This also caused nearly 1/4 cup of juice to drain from the burrito and any possible flavor it could have potentially had. It also contained jalapeños which I don’t recall being listed as an ingredient. Added a nice kick and was a smidgen of flavor for a dish that had none. Very polite and welcoming staff and atmosphere. Clean and courteous. Not sure if I’ll go back but I’ll consider it

We came from San Diego so our Mexican food standards are pretty high. The chilaquiles were PERFECTION. Better than most San Diego restaurants. Salsa verde is the way to go. Thank you!!

Every time I come to St. Louis, I stay at the Travelodge across the Street from Jaxel’s. Every time I’ve ordered it’s always very tasty food. Quick service and authentic. If you want good Mexican food I would recommend this place highly. Cheers!

This is a hidden gem that I wish so much success for. A friend introduced me to this restaurant and I’ve visited maybe a dozen times that their service and amazing food is consistent. I am definitely a giant fan of this place and will keep telling all of my friends about it.

This might be a hidden gem. This place was recommended so we stopped in. It was slow at 5:30 on a Saturday. The food is really good and worth a repeat visit. The woman serving us was great, too. The food hits the spot in a umami way. Why only 4 out of 5 stars? All of us found that while it is really good it lacks a little flavor. With a little tweak of flavor this place will be the cats meow and an easy 5 star.
