We don’t take ourselves too seriously at Jax Fish House. Two things we do take seriously? The freshness and sustainability of our seafood. You know fresh fish when you see, smell, and taste it—and thanks to modern delivery technology, we bring in that freshy-fresh seven days a week. Sustainability is a little more complicated. Not all commercial fisheries are created equal. That’s why we work closely with our suppliers and science-based organizations to ensure that every single thing we serve is responsibly sourced. We consider the stocks of the species we source to prevent overfishing and we work with suppliers who harvest in ways that have minimal impacts on marine environments.

My husband and I grabbed a last minute reservation at Jax before heading out to a play at CU Boulder. It was delicious! My husband had the Lobster Katsu Sando and I had the Lobster Roll (Connecticut style). We each tried a Caviar Bump and shared the Chargrilled Oysters. Honestly, I would have been happy with an endless parade of the oysters. Service was excellent! My sole ‘complaint’ was that I found the restaurant loud, but I have very low tolerance for noise and the space was small. It would probably not seem loud to someone not super sensitive to noise. I would go back!

These 5 star reviews must be indicative of the dearth of good restaurants in Boulder — people must no longer know what great well prepared food should taste like. I gave this place a try a couple weeks ago after a year of staying away after another disappointing meal. I had the fried catfish based upon the recommendation of my waitress. Bland sauce, dry grits compressed into hardened squares and soggy greens. I never regret spending good money in expensive places when the food lives up to the menu descriptions — but this place is a rip off. Unfortunately Jax is just another corporately owned pretend dive bar masquerading as an upscale restaurant.

We love Jax, especially for happy hour. The mgr, Jordan, is so helpful and accommodating. The food and drink recommendations were spot on, and the offerings for happy hour were surprisingly generous and so delicious. Top of list for great atmosphere (like a upscale hometown gathering spot), excellent food and truly great staff.

Love going to Jax for fresh seafood and oysters. It never disappoints. They have a small patio area outside for seating and many places inside. This spot is VERY popular so I would make a reservation, and say you’d like outdoor seating if you’re interested. It gets easily crowded and loud here.

Great spot in Boulder with a fun vibe and excellent service! The miso spicy mushroom had a nice kick, and the oysters (West and East Coast) were fresh and flavorful. The mussels were generous, and the blue crab artichoke dip was a standout. Pair it all with their excellent wine selection. Highly recommend!

We really had the best best date night here. The service was flawless, fast, friendly, attentive, and correct. Everything we ate was terrific! Highlights were the oysters (plump and fresh), wedge salad (ice cold and flavorful), and bread and butter (sweet and salty in the best best ways). Cocktails were excellent, I like a really specific martini and they nailed it. Lively space but not too packed in. I wanted to try every single thing on the menu. Just go, this experience was a perfect 10.

Absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was great. Service was incredible!!! We got there early and had some amazing drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. The food was out of this world!!! Oysters were delicious, crab was so good, and the halibut with the curry sauce was brilliant!!! Hats off to the staff and chefs. Will be back again! Thanks again for an amazing dinner!
