Found some outstanding BBQ today at Javier BBQ! Meaty, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs, perfect bark, amazing sauce. This BBQ is the REAL DEAL! Can’t wait to try the beef brisket when it’s on the menu. The staff was very friendly. The owner Javier used to be a cook at Salt Lick BBQ in Austin, TX. So glad he remembered the recipes. BBQ officially checked off the very short—and ever-dwindling—list of things I miss from the U.S.

I highly recommend Javier BBQ! It’s legit Texas BBQ with serious pedigree.
Javier and his dad cooked at Saltlick in Austin for 35 years—and it shows. Only open Saturdays at 2pm, so plan ahead. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone, the chicken is insanely juicy, and the sausage has that perfect snap. Real BBQ. No hype. Worth it.

I went with a buddy of mine and have been once one of the time in the past, we ordered the pork short ribs that comes with an iceberg lettuce salad, and a potato salad of some sort, which I couldn’t quite discern if it was a mix of potatoes and sweet potatoes. The plate is 350 pesos and starts off with a bowl of beans. The beans were excellent although it could’ve been a little bit hotter to temperature. The ribs are nicely smoked with Mesquite juicy this place seems like it would be small, but the two ribs are Generous in size and fulfilling. Javier makes his own barbecue sauce I like it. It’s not a heavy tomato sauce like most barbecue sauce in town. The staff is super friendly. You can bring in a beer but they don’t sell it. The interior is sparse is no music playing or art on the wall it’s clean but has a Warehouse feeling I recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for pork ribs there is also smoked chicken and a fantastic smoked sausage. I’ve tried them all and they all hit the mark in the future. Javier said he will add brisket can prepare beef ribs if you call ahead.

We experienced Javier’s BBQ today for the first time and wow! LOVED the ribs especially! So meaty and tender! We had ribs, chorizo, bread, salad, beans, and potato salad. Everything had just the right amount of everything. : ) SO GOOD! Thank you for a delicious meal Javier – we’ll be back for more!

Nice little family owned business in San Miguel. Javier worked at the ‘Salt Lick’ in Austin, Texas where he learned the business of smoked meat and it shows. Like many talented chefs, he’s put his own signature touches to the process.

The ribs are fall off the bone, meaty and smoked to perfection in Javier’s custom hand-built smoker. His homemade salsa accents the ribs or chicken with just the right combination of spice and tang. You’ll only need one meal that day if you’re coming here, because trust me, you will not be hungry afterwards. Pro tip: Bring your own bottle of wine.
