Social Profile:

Java Flats, located 15 minutes outside of Kodiak at the head of Womans’ Bay, is a drive-up cafe offering online ordering, outdoor seating on a covered patio, an omnivorous menu with lots of vegetarian and gluten free options, giant homemade cookies and a full espresso bar. We use organic produce, local wild caught salmon, locally roasted coffee, and yes, though we gave in to peer pressure and offer Red Bull kickers now, we have stayed true to our roots and also offer an organic multigrain bread option for your sandwiches 🙂 We are not active on social media on the regular, but try to keep our website current so always feel free to check in @ javaflats . com or give us a call for current hours and updates!

The drinks here are SO good!!! I enjoyed the Summer Berry Matcha – best matcha I’ve ever had! My husband’s Lavender London was delicious, smooth, and flavorful. We both loved our fresh sandwiches – Jam and Ham… and the Java Melt. Yum!
Oh… and the cookies??? So incredible. We lived the pecan raisin oatmeal. Best cookie ever!… truly!

Java Flats offers the best customer service and quality food. They also go above and beyond to ensure that their yummy treats reach the villages so that I can share with my coworkers. Alicia and team, we appreciate you so much!

I visited here for the first time with a stranger I saw walking on the road and invited along to have lunch with me after church. Ha ha, impromptu picnic.

The owner greeted us with smiles and we broke into laughter for a moment while I stumbled my way through my order. We chatted and ate in the sun while sitting at the tables out front. The food and service at Java Flats were all quite wonderful. I’m not certain why people mention the price, when one can go to Mcdonalds and get bad service, cold food, and the wrong order every single time for the same amount of money.

Great family friendly atmosphere and waitstaff, sandwiches are good and coupled with the soup are a very hardy meal. Sort of famous for their cookies as well, considering the location the amount of people who come for lunch or use the drive thru should be recommendation enough. But if it is not, then your first visit will convince you to come back to the ample menu of very tasty selections. Hours are till 3 so keep that in mind.

Can’t say enough about their customer service and quality of coffee and food. They are always friendly and happy to be keeping the population of Kodiak well caffeinated 😀 Plus, the cookies are out of this world. The photo shows a couple gingerbread cookies I picked up this morning. I’ve also had several of their vegetarian sandwich and chili options and they’re equally as delicious. So glad to have this option a mere 6 minutes from me!

Really really good and fresh food. This photo is the Bells Flats Bagel. Yummy iced vanilla breves too. Be prepared to drop some dough, kinda pricy.

We’re huge fans of Java Flats!
Their food is delicious, & the unique, quaint but cozy, mountain ski-resort coffee & breakfast-bistro vibe is perfectly balanced with the welcoming & small-town-friendly team that works there.
We love it so much that when we were in Kodiak visiting my Daughter & her husband, who was stationed at the Coast Guard base in 2012, we visited Java Flats almost every morning for 2 straight weeks… & I developed an addiction to their homemade granola bars. Even after returning home to Virginia Beach, I’ve never forgotten how delicious those granola bars were. I’ve looked everywhere locally, & even learned how to make my own granola bars, but they just didn’t hold a candle to Java Flats granola bars.
In fact, nothing even comes close.
So, after all these years of missing those incredibly good granola bars, I finally messaged Alicia at Java Flats, & she was kind enough to go out of her way & mail a bunch of her homemade granola bars to me all the way out here in Virginia Beach!
And guess what?!? They’re every bit as delicious as I remember! My Husband & I were thrilled, & I could not be happier, or more grateful, for her taking her personal time to do such a kind & gracious favor for me!
This place is just THE BEST! The food is fantastic, but it’s the team that calls Java Flats home that is what really makes it so special! I couldn’t recommend them more highly, & Alicia, I just can’t thank you enough! ❤ ☕
