One of the best “hidden gems” in KC! Fantastic, fresh Mexican seafood. Excellent happy hour, with $1.50 raw oysters 2x/week. Love the ceviche, blue crab dip, crab-stuffed trout, baby grilled octopus. Service is outstanding!

Jarocho is a great Mexican seafood spot, especially for brunch. The menu has plenty to explore, and everything feels carefully prepared. The ceviche was bright and clean, and the fried fish was crisp and well cooked. Sauces were rich but worked naturally with the dishes instead of overpowering them. Simple, well executed food that makes you want to come back and try more.

We had a wonderful fish dinner here on Friday night! Super tasty and fresh! I heard that the fish is flown in daily from the coast! Our waitress was great and treated us right by keeping the food and the drinks coming until they closed! This was a great referral restaurant by a close friend!

Food was awesome! Service was the same! It was nice to go to a Mexican restaurant and get some new options. This is a seafood restaurant and they do it right. Everything that we had was great. We had the little fried fish, oysters, blue crab queso, lobster bisque soup, and shared the paella. I recommend them all. The lobster bisque was the best that I’ve ever had. Check it out for yourself. I can’t wait to go back!

The food was good, but be prepared to be nickled and dimed. Our server was very friendly and she did a great job keeping up as the only server.

Now the bad. A 3.5lb, $70 fish came with two small containers of sauce. There’s an up charge for an extra container, so we had to eat the last part of the fish without sauce. They have no vegetarian entree options on the menu, but the chef said he could put peppers and onions on a cheese quesadilla. If I had realized that I would still be charged for a steak quesadilla, I would have passed and grabbed something to eat on the way home. I paid $22 for a quesadilla with a few strips of onions and peppers. It was good, but not worth the cost. Plus, it left us all with a nasty taste in our mouths .

Yep this is one of my favorite spots for Sunday lunch. So many options on the buffet and menu. Great food and great service to match. The fish was on point. And I got a blue crab tamale topped with Mole’ that is a show stopper. If you haven’t been here, you need to make it a priority. We all ordered different things and traded around and there wasn’t anything that I didnt want more of. Cant say enough about this place. Check it out sooner than later.

I always thought “why doesn’t someone open a Mexican seafood join?” And well my prayers were answered when I found this place on diners, drive-ins and dives! So I made it my first stop in Kansas City and was not disappointed. Worth every last dime. I had the grilled stuffed oysters because that’s what I saw on TV and knew that’s what I wanted immediately. Mouthwatering, heavenly seafood goodness!

I really wanted to like and recommend this place but not yet, not in its current state. Service is ok and pretty fast, so no issues there. I think the biggest reason I hesitate to recommend this place is the price / quality ratio. This is not a typical Mexican restaurant where you get your tacos, burritos and fijitas. For that, I like this place. I ordered a scallop Ceviche and a seafood paella. The Ceviche is ok, not amazingly good but not bad neither. But the portion was really small. The seafood paella was a bit let down. It has one scallop, one clam, 2 pieces of fish fillets and 3 shrimps. That’s it. And the rest of it was just rice. And it was a bit on the salty side but I understand that’s subjective. This came out to be almost $55 for 2 dishes. I am not sure if it’s worth it.

Been a long time fan of jarocho especially the buffet on Saturday. Even during COViD I supported this lil gem in hopes to keep it open. I was very sad to hear of it’s closing in February 2026, as there is nothing that compares to the uniqueness and flavor. I’m hoping my positive review will be considered to keep it open.

We mostly enjoyed the food, and the service was good. We thought it was expensive for what we got. Shrimp cocktail with stale crackers, steak fajitas, one Coke, and one water about 62.00 with tip.
