During the Heian period around the 11th century in Japan, ice was collected from the mountains in the coldest months of winter. The ice was shaved with a knife into a bowl and eaten together with the sweet sap from flowers and vines topped with syrup. A luxury reserved for royalty and Heian nobles. Today, Japanese shave ice, called Kakigori is a fluffy mountain of thinly shaved ice made to perfection topped with natural fruit syrups and other local and seasonal ingredients. Taking care that each element is represented beautifully.

Lilly was an absolute darling helping us with our order (given that I dropped mine before I could eat it), and she made the experience a lot better.

Best ice cream I have ever have in my whole entire life! It is delicious, light, perfectly sweet and fluffy ! So original. It is TOO GOOD! You must try the coconut one- my favorite but matcha is very good too!

I tried this place while visiting Miami with my wife. I’ve tried a lot of similar places but this one takes the cake. The owner was there working on the products herself. She provided me with amazing and friendly customer service. I tried the passion mountain flavor. It was delicious and refreshing. I highly recommend you check out Japow if you’re ever in the Miami Design District area.

Japow is my favorite sweet treat in Miami. They have the best flavors and Lilly is always so kind and helpful. My favorite is strawberry milk sooo good. Make sure you make your way here in design district for the best Japanese shaved ice!

We live in Miami and JAPOW is our absolute FAVORITE place to get a sweet treat after lunch and shopping. The pink and blue truck they serve out of makes for the cutest picture too. Every favor on the menu is delicious. Our favorites are the Strawberry & Tiger Tempura.
