10/10 Would eat here again.
I was pleasantly surprised at how elevated the flavors, taste and presentation was for the sushi and chicken katsu. I recommend the white dragon roll and the chicken katsu dish to start. The chicken katsu dish came with a refreshing salad on the side that was very well paired with the richness from the crispy fried chicken. Service was FAST in the best way and very kind, attentive server refilling water and asking how the meal was. The ambiance is cozy yet modern and very clean, they sanitized each table after completion. So stoked to have this near our home. Thank you for the deliciousness!
The customer service is always exceptional. It’s very rare especially this day and age. The chef and staff (especially Milton) always takes the time to chat, check on the guests, and is very attentive. We always leave happy and full after dining at Japomen Alexandria.
Our waiter, Milton, was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel right at home and guiding us through the menu with great recommendations. The level of service truly elevated our evening.
The food was outstanding starting with the Bao Buns simple but perfectly balanced followed by the Mexican Roll full of flavor and delicacy. the Wagyu Ramen was absolutely phenomenal (1000% recommend!) as well as the Pork-belly Ramen and full of fresh flavor and creativity followed by a Large Sake ( Cheers)!
Thank you, Milton, for making our first visit such a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be coming back again soon!

The service was quick and responsive, very courteous. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu like the sushi tacos!
I’ve been eagerly anticipating Japomen’s grand opening for months, hoping it would bring something special to the Hilltop area—and it absolutely delivers!
From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The space immediately feels welcoming and serene, with decor that perfectly captures Japanese minimalism. Natural wood and bamboo accents, a calming color palette, and thoughtful design details make the restaurant both cozy and elegant.
The menu offers a wide array of authentic Japanese dishes, each clearly prepared with care and pride. The attention to detail in presentation and flavor really shines through.
For our meal, we started with the shrimp and vegetable tempura—light, crisp, and paired with a perfectly balanced dipping sauce. I then had the tonkotsu pork ramen, which was absolutely outstanding. The broth was rich yet refined, and the bowl was generously filled with tender slices of pork. Every bite reflected the kitchen’s meticulous craftsmanship.
Owner Peter was present throughout our visit, ensuring that every guest was having a great experience. Our server, Milton, made us feel genuinely welcome—attentive without being intrusive, and always with a smile. You can tell the entire staff takes real pride in what they do.
Japomen is exactly the kind of restaurant that makes a neighborhood feel special—authentic, heartfelt, and consistently excellent.
Welcome to Hilltop, Japomen—you’ve already gained a regular! I can’t wait to come back again (and again) to explore more of your amazing menu.
Food: the food overall was good but I paid extra for make it spicy but it wasn’t spicy and I was even afraid to ask for extra chili because of the rudeness of one of the servers. My sisters food was good as well however she was missing some ingredients that was listed in the description of the ramen she chose.
Overall:
I won’t be returning to this place and I’m really disappointed because this is the closest japomen to me and I was excited for it being closer but I guess I will make the drive to Vienna for better customer service and quality food.
