The crispy mushrooms were just okay on their own, a bit too cheesy for my taste, but dipping them into the prawn sauce actually worked surprisingly well.
The lumache pasta had a strong olive oil presence and leaned a bit salty, though the pork inside was cooked properly.
The pork katsu was disappointing. It looks big, but the pork is pounded extremely thin, and the breading ends up thicker than the meat, making it dry and not very satisfying.
Service was fine and efficient. Overall, I’d come back specifically for the prawns, but probably skip the rest.
We began with the layered fries and chicken yakitori, and both appetizers set the bar high. The fries were perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside—and the truffle sauce was genuinely finger-licking good with an incredible depth of flavor. The chicken yakitori was juicy and well seasoned; while it was delicious on its own, a dipping sauce would have made it absolutely perfect.
For mains, we ordered the pomodoro pasta and a chicken entrée, and both delivered once again. The pasta was cooked just right, and the pomodoro sauce tasted fresh, light, and vibrant. The chicken dish was flavorful and satisfying, and the side of sweet potatoes was surprisingly addictive—soft, well-seasoned, and comforting.
The absolute highlight of the meal, though, was dessert. The olive cake with limoncello deserves a special mention—it was hands down the best part of the evening. Moist, beautifully balanced, not overly sweet, and packed with flavor. This is a must-try, no questions asked. I’m already planning to order two slices on our next visit.
Lastly, the service deserves major praise. Even on New Year’s Eve, everything came out quickly, efficiently, and with great attention to detail. The experience felt smooth and well-managed from start to finish.
Overall, Jane Doe is a standout spot with excellent food, thoughtful execution, and top-notch service. Can’t wait to go back.
Great service ,the staff are super nice
Recommend to make reservations just in case
I drank a few cocktails ( mainly the gin /tequila based)- all were nice, fresh and alcohol forward which was appreciated .
The food was 10/10 for me , we got
Beef tartar with burrata
Octopus carpaccio
Scallions pancake
Chicken sliders
Beef yakitori
Chicken yaketori
Olive cake for dessert
Everything was delicious, fresh and well seasoned.
The olive cacke is highly recommended for dessert.
This would be a great spot for a date night or a special night out in JC.
I previously gave Jane Doe a glowing review because the food and experience have always been fantastic. However, my recent takeout experience left me disappointed. I ordered the gluten-free scampi, a dish I absolutely love, but unfortunately, the pasta was undercooked. It’s frustrating to get home, excited to enjoy a favorite meal, only to find it not properly prepared. It really felt like my order was rushed.
I will absolutely continue dining in because the quality has always been great in person, but I won’t be ordering takeout again. Hopefully, they can improve their takeout preparation to match their usual high standards.

I recently discovered Jane Doe, and it has quickly become a favorite of mine. In just one week, I’ve dined there twice, and each experience has been absolutely delightful.
The Food
Starter: Japanese Sweet Potatoes
These are absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked with a subtle sweetness and just the right amount of seasoning. A fantastic way to begin the meal.
Entree: Gluten-Free Scampi
This dish is to die for! I’m obsessed with the rich flavor and the light kick that elevates it to perfection. It’s incredibly satisfying and filling without feeling heavy—a truly delightful dish.
Dessert: Limoncello Olive Oil Cake
This is now one of my favorite desserts of all time. The cake is moist, flavorful, and simply outstanding. A must-try for anyone visiting Jane Doe.
The Atmosphere:
The ambiance is warm and cozy, making it an inviting spot to enjoy a meal. The music is on the louder side, but it’s still possible to have a conversation. The friendly and attentive staff add to the charm of the place, making every visit enjoyable.
Jane Doe has quickly earned a top spot on my list of go-to restaurants. Whether you’re looking for a satisfying meal or a cozy night out, this place delivers on all fronts!
Service: The server was nice and very attentive
Atmosphere: It was fine, nothing special.
We made plans to return before we even left!
