⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jamar’s Sports Bar – Best Catfish, Soul Food & Sports Bar Near Sea-Tac Airport (Seattle/Des Moines)
If you’re flying in or out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and craving real flavor, don’t waste time with chain food—Jamar’s Sports Bar in Des Moines is the hidden gem you need to try.
From the moment you walk in, you know this place is different. The vibe is stadium-level electric—the TVs and sound system make you feel like you’re sitting at the game. It’s lively, casual, and filled with community energy. And here’s what makes it stand out:
The Food
• Catfish that rivals Seattle staples. Crispy, golden, seasoned all the way through—easily some of the best I’ve ever had. Honestly, a Seattle vs. Des Moines catfish cook-off would be amazing, and Jamar’s might just win.
• Steak Nights that serve cuts as good as (if not better than) upscale Seattle steakhouses.
• Brunch with the BEST grits in the Pacific Northwest—buttery, creamy, and unforgettable.
• Soulful sides (mac & cheese, catfish sliders, fries that actually have flavor) that make every plate a win.
The Atmosphere
• Family-friendly: Kids are welcome Mondays until 8 PM, making this more than just a bar—it’s a community hub.
• Big groups, date nights, or solo sports fans—everyone fits here.
• Accessible, with plenty of parking and seating options (indoor dining, booths, bar, patio).
The Service
I’ll be honest—service used to be hit-or-miss. But today, everything changed. Serea gave me the kind of service that makes you feel like family. Warm, attentive, and genuine—she’s proof of why this establishment will thrive. Do yourself a favor and ask for Serea when you visit.
✈️ Location Perfection
Jamar’s is next to the airport and just a short drive from Seattle. Whether you’re a local or traveling, this is the soul food sports bar experience you’ve been searching for.

Stopped here for dinner on our way to a Mariner’s game. This place has fantastic daily specials! I got their buffalo chicken sliders with Mac-n-cheese (AMAZING), my hubby got Philly sliders with tots (also amazing), and our son got honey hot wings (they’re lightly breaded like hooters and amazing!)
The service was great! Relaxed atmosphere with typical bar entertainment. It’s super clean and love the decor. The bathrooms are especially fun! You’ll have to visit to experience their awesomeness. We will definitely be going there more often! I’m excited to try their brunch!

Been a frequent visitor for about a year, possibly more. Food has been exceptional, customer service reminds me of that show “Cheers.”(Everyone knows Everyone) clean establishment. And the prices fit what you’re purchasing. When it comes time for sport games (specifically Football season) I notices that the team helmets will be on display according to who’s playing! Anyhow. Alot of events during the week make for good variety!

Good communities make good bars. The menu is smart. Food is great. The daily deals are good. The staff is sweet. The customers are fun. This is what a bar should be.

I came in to order food on a Sunday….I seen it was crowded so I patiently waited for my food. I was a given a number and I was told I would be found at my table. After 40 min went by and I didn’t receive my sandwich I asked them I received it cold and soggy. I’m adding the 3 stars strictly because of my bartender who was extremely busy but fixed everything. The cook came out complaining about remaking it which was very tacky smh he seen it sitting in the window. I hope my sandwich is cool. Probably won’t come back! I can get good food and drinks plenty of other places without the hassle.

Jamar’s Bar and Grill is an absolute gem! I sat at the bar, where I had some of the most perfectly cooked wings—crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. I paired them with a tequila mule that hit all the right notes. What made the experience even better was the great conversation with Jamar himself. His passion for the place and genuine warmth made me feel right at home. This is more than just a spot for great food and drinks—it’s a place where you feel like part of the community. I’ll definitely be back!

The Catfish was great. The seasoning was good and the fish was very moist and flakey. A lot of tables and space, but up at the bar can feel cramped.
Typical loudness you’d expect at a bar, but they were hosting a “music bingo” and at times the music BLASTED as the host was trying to adjust the volume trying to get it just right.
Service could be slow at times… it was my first time there so idk if they ever have 2 bartenders but that night they could haves used 2 for sure lol. Had problem a couple times where I ordered certain beers and shots, but was given the wrong beers or more shots than I ordered.
Overall not a bad experience, I’d stop back for the Catfish again

Jamar’s is a great bar. When living in Seattle, I searched all over for a place like this but never found a spot that I liked, that is until visiting Jamar’s recently. The bar has great food, good prices, good drinks, a good atmosphere and great customer service. If you are in the area, or visiting Seattle, visit Jamar’s. You won’t be disappointed!

Checked out Jamar’s on opening day for Wing & Whiskey Wednesday ($6 Jamesons and $1.50 wings)! We also ordered the happy hour garlic cheese curds which were delicious. Great service (thanks Eric!), fun atmosphere, & a 10/10 menu. We are SO stoked that Des Moines finally has a sports bar with a full dinner menu and Sunday brunch! Can’t wait to come back. Welcome to Des Moines, Jamar & team!

Went for Sunday brunch. The service was friendly but the music was crazy loud. I kept looking around thinking maybe I was right by a speaker but no it was just that loud. We had to shout to be heard so eventually I just stopped talking and hit folks with the smile n fake nod like I heard them lol. Someone ordered a mimosa tower which I thought was super cute but the Mismatch glasses not so much. Since the tower was closest to me I started pouring and passing down. When I went to get mine I noticed the glass was sticky on the outside and wet on the inside. I set it aside and grabbed a different glass. We toasted and after my little sip I noticed a fly floating inside. The waitress took it right away and brought another one to replace it. We placed our orders and I really appreciated the waitress letting us know that I would take some time as these were all made to order meals. We said that was fine and went to the bar to kill time. To my surprise, they had those little apple shaped fly traps all in the windowsill at the bar. I told my friend girl Idk if I want another drink now but she talked me into it saying she’ll pay. We order our drinks and to our surprise they were two flies at the bottom of my shot glass…the bartender embarassed made me another this time with a heavier pour…I examined my glass well and headed back to the table. When the food came I immediately noticed how dark the chicken was on my friend and daughters plates. I asked them if the chicken was burned and they both said yes after trying but both said as long as it took, they did not want to send it back. My daughter didn’t eat any more of hers and my friend just slathered syrup all over to drown out the burn flavor. I ordered shrimp n grits with 1 piece of catfish. I took a bite of the fish and could tell right away it was fried in the same oil as the chicken. I passed it around to have others try it and they agreed. By this time I’m like damn do I even eat the grits? But another friend ordered grits and said they were good…so I ate a little bit of those but they were just ok. All in all I would never go back here and don’t recommend….at all.
