We ate dinner on a Monday night at Jamal’s. The food was good and it’s a really clean and tidy dining area. The draft Cobra beer was good too. My lower rating is because when the bill was presented it seemed more than I expected. It was very hard to read and we asked the server to explain. It turned out my meal had been incorrectly charged by £3 and there was a £5 service charge – critically marked s/c. At first the server tried to say that the service charge had to be paid, but then said it could be removed when pressed. Of course this makes the whole experience uncomfortable and spoils an otherwise great experience.

My husband and I go to Jamals about every six weeks, and it is by far our favourite Indian in Oxford. The food is absolutely delicious, and Ali the owner is shy but kind. It’s quiet, and there is enough space between tables so conversation always flows. Best of all, the window table is a perfect place for watching the world pass by.

This family run business has been in Oxford for many years. This was our first time and the food and service was excellent. Flavours were exceptional. I would highly recommend Jamal’s for anyone who enjoys Indian/Bangladeshi food.

Very disappointed in this place. I’m not sure if this was due to us being the first customers of the day but the food tasted old. I wouldn’t come back here again. Also to now we did order take away.

My friend ordered a take away a couple of days ago Chicken and lamb biriyani We waited over 35 min for it to be ready , when there was only two people eating in the restaurant The veg dish was half filled and the colour of rice dull It was very bland Never tasted such a poor indian dish before
