1st experience. Pulled up at 715 ish. My bf who has been before jumped right in and ordered ox tails cabbage Mac and cheese and rice. I asked the cashier jerk or curry chicken she suggested curry. I got that w Mac and cheese rice and beans and cabbage. After about 10 minutes the cashier came back to the window to inform us there was mix up with the order and basically we were getting a free plate (they put my bf ox tails on my beans and rice). Another 10 mins goes by (the time was never a problem this isn’t fast food however long it look was okay with me lol they closed at 8 I was in fear of not getting freshly cooked food) she came back w the food. As we pulled off I’m not sure if he was the owner or what but he flagged us down because he wasn’t sure if we got our drinks (we did) but the fact he went through that was okay with me lol. I honestly couldn’t wait to eat it smelled so good definitely was fresh. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. I personally like my lemonade a little tart it was more on the sweet side my bf liked it. Both plates and 2 drinks were about $45 well worth it. Will be back soon to see about that jerk chicken !!

This isn’t my first nor last time here. The food is authentic, always fresh, and the flavor is awesome! The music always adds a nice touch as well. Check it out.. my favorites are the curry and jerk chicken meals. However, my 9 year old is a fan of the wings. Highly recommend!

My experience at the Jamaican kitchen was nothing short of outstanding! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality, especially from Miss Ariel, who went above and beyond to help me navigate the menu. Her courteous demeanor made my first visit truly special.

The food itself was incredibly delicious—I’ve never tasted Jamaican cuisine quite like this before, and I doubt I’ll find anything that rivals it in the future. The ambiance was vibrant and inviting, filled with great people, making it an all-around delightful environment. If you’re looking for exceptional dining that combines fantastic food with a welcoming atmosphere, this place is an absolute must-visit!

I’m very particular when it comes to oxtails. I only eat from one Jamaican restaurant in Richmond……. But I might have to travel 3 hours to get this Jamaican food. It was superb!!!! Very friendly. I can only give a 5 ⭐ review but it deserves 100

I have to say, Jamaican kitchen is absolutely unparalleled. I’ve been visiting this place since I was around 17 or 18, and the food has consistently been incredible. On my recent visit, I was fortunate to be served by Miss Ariel, who exemplified politeness and courtesy. She took the time to explain the entire menu to me, and I truly appreciate her patience and dedication. If you’re craving authentic Jamaican cuisine that’s seasoned to perfection this is the place to be. Don’t miss out!

This is our second time here. The Coco bread is absolutely delicious. Hot and Fresh out of the kitchen. The jerk chicken is good with Rice & Peas and Cabbage. We had the medium and large portion sizes. We ordered the beef and chicken patty for later. We would recommend them. It’s small and cozy. We’re looking forward to trying their other foods.

Update: ordered stew chicken nasty 10/19/24. The mac is garabage. The meat is mostly bones and flavorless. Will be disputing this charge…..

Original comment: I used to love going here when I came in town, but over time the food has changed in taste, as well as the portions. They don’t put enough season or sauce anymore, and they also don’t let you substitute sides anymore. Which I was surprised they took that option away. In the photos, the one with mac was around when they first opened in 2016 and you could substitute the sides. This year, 2019, I went and I didnt want any sides outside of mac, and they still told me I had to order it as a side. I was going to give up 2 sides for one side of mac and they told me no. I went ahead and ordered the side and got maybe a scoop(not even half of the 2016 pic) for $3, not worth it, and it wasnt good. They have officially lost me as a customer. I gave them a 3 because the desserts are good.
